    More autograph identification help

    Hi all

Looking for more help (sorry). Recently picked up some interesting items. Mostly late 19th century. Seem to be important people of the period - lords, royalty, explorers, politicians etc. I have identified some e.g. Robert Baden Powell, Lord Russell, Gladstone, but these two shown here have me stumped. In context of the period and others mentioned, any ideas??

    Cheers

What about this one then? In French, presumably, but I haven’t translated the letter as my French is very rusty

    More autograph identification help

    My dear Coureau
You know that we leave at 11 o’clock. Make sure you are at the station.
    Yours,
    Signed: Rochefort

I have no idea who they are but both names come from northern Aquitaine.

Thanks very much. Based on this, I’m leaning towards Victor Henri Rochefort.

Indeed. Mr Coureau was a Frenchman living in London who acted as an interpreter.

Look for a book called “Henri Rochefort Intime”, page 137 -138.
It’s impossible to paste the google link as it’s too long but the title of the book and coureau in the search should take you there.

I know you all love theses so here’s a few more that came from the same collection. Any ideas?

The first photo may be of Alec Bedser's autograph.

    The third? Haywood Milton, surely!

I see what you mean, but comparing with other signatures online, I don’t think so. These came from a collection all around the late 1800’s, so not quite the right time frame.

    HM 😂

My mistake; I thought we were still at your cricket collection.

Update : I think I’ve worked out who the second one is. Andrew Bonar Law - ex Prime Minister.
