Loose or tight?

Looking at pictures of watches on the wrist, I see a lot of people wear their watches so tight I'm surprised their hands aren't as blue as the posh screws in the movements. Personally, I hate tight anything and consequently I wear my watches quite loose, they can move around on my wrist easily, slide up and down my forearm by a couple of inches (I do have skinny little wrists which are quite flat).

So what is it chaps/chapesses, tight or loose?

That's sort of a naff question, but it did make me think.........people who have 'meaty' wrists are probably going to be fine with wearing on the tight side, but if you're a 'boney' old codger like me then it's got to be just slightly loose - but not so loose that you can lose it half-way up your arm!

To clarify a little, I can get my middle finger (of the opposite hand) between the clasp and my wrist quite easily. The degree of 'looseness' is a matter of great precision and takes much faffing about with links in and out and then fine tuning on the micro clasp thingy. I also like my watch head to fit in the middle of my wrist and the clasp to be exactly on the opposite side of my wrist.

It has to be comfortable
For me it has to be tight enough to prevent it moving about my wrist but loose enough to enable me to squeeze a finger between strap and flesh.

I think I am on loose side - my watch slides approx 5cm up and down, but does not rotate around wrist.

I’ve been told by many a supposed professional to wear it relatively tight, to minimise wear on the bracelet.
I wear it loose.

I've noticed the same thing in photos, some people seem to have the strap so tight it forms an indent in their wrist, and it looks really uncomfortable to me.

I can easily get the index finger of the opposite hand under the strap, and I'd still say it "fits", there's room for the watch to move a bit but it's not flapping around.

I like to be able to fit my little finger in between my wrist and my strap. Allows room for when I get hot and not too loose when cold. Much trial and error to reach this conclusion!

I probably tend to wear mine on the tighter side of loose, but definitely not to the point of discomfort. They can generally move an inch or two down my arms.

If a bracelet leave an imprint on my wrist it's too tight. That's how I judge a correct tightish for me.

No, sorry, opposite of uncomfortable - but tight enough so it doesn't slide below my wrist bone from its own weight.

I don't like them being to lose - however, your wrists can swell so at the same time you don't want them to tight (especially if wearing a bracelet) as, over time, it can cause the springboard to fail - which happened to me once.

So now I tend to wear them so that I can squeeze my little finger partly under them - so there can be slight movement - but not enough for the oath to slide appreciably.

I know some people seem to wear them so you can actually see a gap between wrist and watch - and frankly that would drive me nuts

And I wear mine usually ABOVE the wrist bone, which means big pokey crowns just don't cut it usually...too much bruising.

Not loose, a watch that can move up and down my arm bugs the hell out of me.

Ideally, not so tight that it leaves a mark, but that is better than a loose watch, imo.

I find I prefer a little movement on the wrist, otherwise if I get warm it becomes very uncomfortable.

Damasko bracelet had been the hardest to get comfortable & still not convinced I’ve got the optimum mix of std vs comfort links in place.

Got to be on the tighter side so it doesn't move around, I hate a watch slipping and sliding around. That's why a Perlon is perfect for micro adjustment and when it gets too hot.

Fat people can afford to wear a tight watch. Skinny people can't since it constricts blood flow. I hate watches that move up and down. Super uncomfortable and not good for the bracelet.

I have a slim wrist but wear the strap tight, mainly because I hate things moving about but also because the back of the watch inevitably slides over the wrist joint which is uncomfortable.

That's about right IMO. Depends on the design of the bracelet, some need to be worn looser than others to be comfy, but the shape of the wrist also has an influence.
