    CASIO touchscreen from 1984

Someone else might have posted this, but I didn't see it and it's very interesting.

    That’s fantastic, thanks for posting.

    (But it’s Casio, not Seiko!)

that's amazing - the first time I saw a gesture-controlled device was 1998 - my Palm Pilot PDA.

Amazing for 1984! I also liked how seconds hand aligns with indexes.

I am not sure what I found most impressive, the fact that it was a touchscreen/gesture controlled calculator watch from 1984 or the fact that the seconds hand aligned with the markers. I thoroughly enjoyed that gem of a youtube clip.

As I looked through the other videos from that account, I was wondering if its creator was on a forum or two.... Nice Elgin pocket watch, by the way

    CASIO touchscreen from 1984

    Wow!!

Would love to see a reissue of that beauty. The modern AQ230 just doesn’t cut it without that calculator function.

That's nifty. Many of the Casio/Seiko watches from that era were just bonkers, in a technical way :-)

How? What? That’s amazing. I had a look at other things invented in 1984 and it includes CD-ROMs and Tetris. That’s how long ago 1984 was.

Astonishing! Did the technology vanish into some sort of time warp until Silicon Valley companies invented smart phones & tablets???

Love stuff like this, stops you in your tracks and makes you think about how much things really change.

Unlike their modern equivalents, the touch screens stopped working if they got scratched.
