This is of course a thread for those of us with, shall we say, 'out there' opinions, so whatever floats your boat...but Wow!
Is it sufficiently unpopular of me to say that, for me, Bremont charge insane prices for seriously dull & ugly watches????

You win! 50 posts designed to wind up at least some portion of the membership but it took one praising Bremont to draw the first proper disagreement!

Fight Club Rule No. 1: Never praise Bremont.

Just two days ago I was admiring their charging over three grand for a standard three hander with date containing a 2824. Is that the innovation bit?

Most of the bronze cases look like POS. It's no patina, it looks more like some kind of disease, green sh.t.

So much hate for NATOs - unexpected!

My unpopular opinion is the opposite: bracelets really suck.
They are heavy, rattly, uncomfortable and expensive. Most are poorly designed,
    clearly afterthoughts.
And integrated bracelets are the worse!

I think ceramic bezels are far better than those scratched and faded aluminium things.

The co-axial escapement is a very cleaver invention.

  14. #64
Speedy pros are vastly overrated (yes, I did have one and hated the winder).

NATOs are only any use as a spare collar for the dog if he breaks his decent one.

Quartz watches are the work of the Devil and should be burned/smashed with a hammer.

The Rolex Explorer is a much less attractive but more expensive version of the Oyster Perpetual with a fake backstory/heritage which is in fact stolen from the Oyster Perpetual.

The Explorer II has no known use and looks like a parts-bin special.

The GMT is for people who are unable to add or subtract integers.

Chronographs in general are completely useless and the Daytona is a watch for car bores.

If you can fit a NATO around a dog's neck, can it be classed as a proper dog ?

Don’t like NATO’s - especially in larger watches

    I really like the Milgauss

The standard speedmaster pro is dull, and the Speedy Tuesday is one at double the price, but with a pretty dial.

I really dislike homages. Just make your own design for god’s sake

LOL - we used NATOs as puppy collars when our whippets were small - surprisingly useful!

Chronographs with screw-down pushers is a mistake born in a head of drunk watchmaker.

I love reversos! I know I'm not alone in this but reverso fans do seem quite few and far between.

I love the retro, quite nostalgic art deco design. Nostalgia of times gone by is actually quite a big thing for me, which goes hand in hand with mechanical watches, for me.

I've only owned one so far, but am toying with getting a duo face. It's just the fact that they seem to take a big value hit and also seem a bit niche, holding me back a little.

    Entry level prestige watches
    Im talking rolex air king
    Omega rail master
    And now even panerai
The entry level watches just look like bad copy watches
    The dials yuk yuk yuk
Or maybe they are designed by work experience people

Most people could probably do without a watch and use their phones and wall clocks instead.

I regularly wear two watches, one on each wrist when at home..... Occasionally I've done it unwittingly elsewhere.... and looked a real twat.

Most dive watches won't ever go deeper than their owners pockets.

Blue dials are hideous and made worse with blue bezels and straps. Screw you blue.

No. You have not done a good job retouching the brushed finish you muppet. You've only gone and butcher b*ggered it up.

There's a reason there aren't many vintage watches with green bezels or green bezels and dials - they're wrinkled bulldog balls ugly, just like the modern ones.

I’d rather have 50m water resistance than a screw down crown - diver or not.

    G Shocks are a mess.

Some French made watches are cool

Rolex leave me cold, apart from the explorer 1.

A brown strap and a black dial is just wrong...

I like modern Rolex watches. I don’t like old Rolex watches with rattly bracelets and I don’t care if it has plexi dome, red writing, being so called mill sub etc.

  39. #89
PVD coatings. Watches should be bright and glossy so SS or gold (not so much) but dull black/grey finish on a watch case is totally and utterly, wrong.

The hands on a Tudor Pelagos are awful.

Panerai watches look silly and the backstory is paper thin.

Watches over 42mm look ridiculous on the average sized wrist.
