    Speedmaster Panda Mod

I have always liked to modify standard watches. I have done a few Omegas in the past including modded planet oceans, 2254.50 and a few years ago a couple of Speedmasters.

All have been sold and moved on. I recently purchased a panda CK2998 from sales corner. I really like the shape of the case and the bezel but the dial imo was too small due to the black minute ring. Also it was for me, not legible despite the blackened hour and minute hands.

Anyway, having got the bug again I decided to do my second Mitsukoshi mod. This time I paired the dial with the Snoopy black hand set and it is now very legible.

Anyway, it now looks like this.

I like it, very nice. S combination that certainly looks like it lives together.
I am undertaking a Speedie mod myself at the moment, for reasons of legibility. When it is complete I will report on it.

I always use an experienced watchmaker to do the mods. I have no skills in that area.

Ah thanks. Me either and I wouldn’t attempt it.

Love how it totally transforms a watch.

Oooh! Wow! That is stylish!! Now you need to do a Reverse Panda version as well to cover all bases!

    Speedmaster Panda Mod

Must be doing something right as 3 pms if I ever want to sell

The shiny enamel bezel llifts it nicely compared to the steel.

Totaly agree i had a ck2998 picked it up and realised i had made a mistake
I couldn’t read the time at all and it just looked cluttered the dials to busy
So i sold it bought a speedy pro and did the mitso mod the same as yours
With snoopy main hands and white chrono hands
The only thing i really liked on the ck2998 was the red second hand maybe next time
I see you used the bezel from ck2998 looks good

    Speedmaster Panda Mod

I have the dial and hands in storage from the CK2998.

I also picked up the Project Alaska red hand and I am thinking of changing my FOIS to this. I saw this one years ago and always loved the look.

I would also get the bezel to complete the look.

Looks really good. I have a similar mod myself. What's the white strap in the first pictures? Cheers.

Not a fan of the speedy, but I like that panda mod a lot, just needs the red second hand now. Just goes to show a classic design can be successfully modded.

Yes, I got the watch from the forum.

A genuine 35th ani has a solid back as seen above whereas mine has a sapphire display back (and for a “limited edition of only (!) 3500 its shocking how much dealers are selling for!)

With Omega now limiting availability of “service parts” these kind of mods are going to get rarer I should think. There must be more Misukoshi mash-ups than real ones though, but at this price it’s no surprise. After all, when worn on the wrist who would even know if it was redial or not?

The perfect Speedy Pro modification Michael. It looks perfect to me as you've used black hands. It makes it so much more legible.

Generally, I detest mods to watches, believing that they should remain as the manufacturer intended, but must admit the new hands do look good.

Just completed my Mitsukoshi/Panda mod using Sapphire Sandwich model.
I haven't seen the dial beforehand.as it was in the sealed box and 1st time I saw it when collected from the watchmaker, I was gobsmacked.
I was expecting a white dial but instead it's sort of silvery oyster type colour and changes slightly depending on the light.
I have to say it's a lot more stunning than in the metal than images I've seen on web.
    All in all extremely happy.
