Thread: BLNR dilemma

    BLNR dilemma

15 months ago I sold my Sub 116610LN*to finance the purchase of a brand new AD supplied BLNR. Initially I loved this watch and I still think it's one of the best looking models ever produced by Rolex. However I now realise I preferred the understated looks of the Sub. My intention is to try and locate a new sub through the AD route and sell the BLNR to finance this.
I am now in position of possessing a very sought after and difficult to source BLNR and replace it with equally sought after and difficult to source Ceramic SUB!!! Doesnt this hobby drive you nuts!!!

Just put a wanted to trade listing on SC. As previously stated I am sure someone will come forward willing to put their Sub and cash on the table for the chance to get a BLNR.

Given your general responses on other threads, I'm assuming this is a wind-up.

No it is not a wind up!! If you haven't a serious comment to make, then butt out.

Iíd be sure you really want to do this as the BLNR would be much harder to source next time around

Move it on and get a sub back. I've never been taken by the BLNR, to me it makes the watch look like a toy. I don't think the blue and black is a good contrast either - in fashion you'd never wear royal blue and black together it just doesn't go.

In my opinion, the BLNR is a massively overrated watch. I bought mine new in Xmas 2017, and had sold it (on the forum, for RRP) before New Year 2017. A bright, shiny, nasty thing.

As previously stated, just put a trade listing on SC. You will get your arse kissed by those eager to trade and you should walk away with the watch you want and a hand full of money. Easy peasy.

    Smile

For the record I regard the BLNR as a stunning watch it's just that my tastes have changed which seems to go with the WIS territory

I really don't think that the BLNR is blingy. IMO, the blingiest elements of the BLNR are the teeth of the side of the bezel and the ceramic bezel itself, both of which are shared by the current SubC.

As a kid, I once had a big boil on my left wrist, a painful experience, and it left a scar that I still have 50 years later. Personally, I find the BLNR as appealing as that boil, but I accept that others do actually like the watch and the OP is clearly in that category. On that premise I would advise him to keep it, and beg/ steal/ borrow the money to aquire another watch; what he’s suggested is ( to me) about as appealing as the boil I had as a kid, but he’s the one wearing it not me.

Seriously, the best strategy is to aquire a few watches you really like and accept it’ll take a few years to get them all.

Maybe Rolex should take a cast of your arm boil and stick a handset on it. The boil-just. Iím sure there would be a waiting list for that one ;)

I went from a SubC Date to the BLNR and found the latter to be more of a jewellery piece and certainly gets more comments than I ever got from the Sub. That said, I do quite fancy a SubC ND.

    Maybe wait until after Basel?

I've never been a fan of the BLNR and so I would agree with your idea of getting the Sub again.

I really like the watch. I'd just buy both. They have different complications, and look different enough.

The blue and black makes the most sense for a day and night GMT for me too.

Iíve had both, the BLNR wins over the SubC for me unless itís the LV. Those two complement each other perfectly.

In your position, iíd secure a SubC before you sell the BLNR, never know when youíll get a call & the BLNR more than likely will go up in value thanks to the Rolex hype train

I’m also waiting for Basel to see what happens and then plan on moving mine on, I bought mine December 2017 but much prefer my polar explorer 2!
I just find it too small.
