Show me your dress watches <1k!

I am spending too much time lusting over watches that I could buy, but certainly shouldn’t. I think my dream watch, although many would say that it isn’t a dress watch is an IWC Portuguese. But it would be a very poor financial decision for me to buy one currently.

My collection currently consists of a Submariner 114060 and a Speedmaster (standard, hesalite). I have an itch for something more dressy on a leather strap that doesn’t have a black dial. Ideally with a display case back. If I could just fill that void, then when the time is right maybe an IWC will be in my future!

Would love to see some pics of the watches you guys have, I am sure there are loads of options for me that I have not even thought of!

Cheers, and hope you’re having a lovely evening!

I don't have one, but a Longines Conquest Heritate at £810 would fit the bill for me.

I also have a Stowa Marine that I adore. The clean ceramic like white face and the blued steel hands are fabulous.

It’s got a great arse too.

Indeed so - 1/100 for an Austrian dealer if I recall right, with a ruthenium dial - this is however more like the Lange original dial they did an age ago - two tone. Standard ruthenium dials are much more homogeneous .. but either way, varies a lot with the light ..

Love the original Seiko 'Cocktail time' 6R15 version - the dial is stunning. Nit sure if still available, but the Presage versions are I think.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Working this weekend but some good stuff to chew over when I am not! Vintage Omegas and some Seikos look appealing at the moment.

I couldn’t find the original for anywhere near sensible prices, but the Pressage versions are now easy to get hold of.

If you don't mind going vintage and a smaller size of around 34mm there are loads of nice 9ct gold examples around to choose from that will give you plenty of change from £500.

    Here's one of my own.

It depends on what the OP considers to be a dress watch but if I were looking for a dress watch, it would be a two hander, white dial and as thin as I could afford. Something like this...

That looks marvellous! I suppose it is not automatic given the fact that it is so thin?

Personally I would save or wait till you can afford the Portuguese- its one of the most classiest and most beautiful watches out there! (can be picked up for 3.5k pre-owned)
The Portuguese was my grail and I bought mine 7 years ago- still have it and love it!
(I have this model, not my pic as I wouldn't know how take such a good picture)

That is certainly pleasing to the eye, and as someone else mentioned - carries off elegant/dress and sports dependant upon strap/bracelet.

Yes, a true "one man band", I can pull this off at work, with suit or t-shirt. Pure dress watches are not (at least) for me. Considering I hate dress outfits I would wear them few times a year and its a waist of money...
For someone who is usually in suit or prefers dress watches, my favorite is SARB035 (white/cream dial) with perfect 38mm size or Orient Bambino (cheap and nice) that comes in more colors (rosegold-brown is the nicest IMO)

Some lovely watches on this thread - love the Montblanc.

Not sure I really have a strict "dress watch" - which I think of as: at most three hands, no date, slim case, leather strap, but this recent acquisition (at well below 1k) is getting there:

    Dress watch

I have a white faced Longines Flagship which is a nice size and with the really shiny bracelet works really well.
I tend to wear it more than my Seamaster when going to Black Tie events.
Also have a Longines Legend Diver which with the Flagship I bought with Tesco vouchers from Goldsmiths.
Would love a Portugueses at some point
