I pay a tenner for the lovely Samantha to cut mine. Takes about 40 mins, with a nice coffee included. She uses scissors mainly and trims with electric clippers, very fastidious hairdresser!😉

Forgot to mention in my earlier post in between my 3-4 week haircut, I have a neck shave ( to remove neck ‘fluff’)for the princely sum of £2 ( No tip)
This is carried out by a cheapo cheapo cut price barbershop.

£3 from the crazy polish ladies in the Prospect Centre, Hull, number 1 all over and they often now attack my eyebrows, ear and neck hair. always tip up to £5 or £6 and quite often receive a head and shoulder massage too. they are very friendly and all bonkers!

DIY clippers without guard once a week, think the clippers (ceramic) were £25 and been using them for 7 years which equates to 7p a cut, bargain

My local Turkish Barber charges a tenner, includes nose hair removal for free. Bonus it is a 7 minute walk from home!
Does anyone use the all singing all dancing salon?

Me too, diy bare blade for the head and adjusted right out for the stag eyebrows. It's not about the price tho' it's when you are about to go out and realise the grey needs tamed and 5 mins with the clipper before the shower 'n' shave gets it done.

I think men are lucky. The main difference between a good cut and a bad one is usually about two weeks.

    20 minutes, once a month £12 plus £2 tip.

What I find amazing is 25 years ago I worked as a barber, the town had 4 barber shops. I walked around town the other day and counted 30 barber shops! Most of those Turkish style barbers.

I always look at a cost per hour figure, at £12 my barber is in £36 an hour, if you do the math for Rods then lovely Samantha is in £15 an hour. Throw in a few missed appointments or quiet afternoons, she’d be richer working at KFC.

#2. A fiver. Not much on top, more of a polish than a trim there.

    Same here.

Used to live near Bicester. There was about 5 barber shops. Used to run from one to the other to see how long the que was.
Gave that up years ago. Cut it myself. Hack at the wispy bits that got missed with my scissors.

Not paid for a haircut in 15 years.
£30 shaver every 3-4 years no guard straight over every 2 weeks.
No drying or faffing about, nice and easy
And the best bit no queuing in barbers!!!

I'm another one for the DIY haircut with a trusty set of Wahl clippers and no guard, generally doing my head weekly. Must've saved me a fortune over the years, not to mention time and parking charges in the City centre. Whilst the hair up top is a little thinner than it once was I still prefer the shaved look, also saves a fortune on 'Product' as well. Another benefit is general manscaping uses, ie, eyebrows with a No2 guard stops them getting like Dennis Healey's. You can do other regions too; but enough of that!

Ive just recently been to a turkish barber, crazy experience. £10 got my hair cut, massage, burnt the hairs off my ears with fire and offered me the nose hair wax pull I bottled the latter.

Hairdresser now comes to our house, wife, eldest daughter and I comes to about £40. Mine needs doing again before she comes again, which about another £12.

No Turkish barbers around here... sound interesting though!

Before I resorted to the clippers I used to use the Turkish barbers in Chelmsford, £10 for a cut, hot towel, shoulder/neck massage, burnt off ear hair, eyebrow threading and a splash of cologne (although I half suspect it was watered down lemon juice). You just cannot go wrong.

Ah, but the lovely Samantha has a skill (that isn't tossing chicken) and will be earning cash-in-hand in the evenings for "personal" visits

Senior citizen rates of £6 plus a quid tip every 6 weeks and she's a good looking girl as well :)
