Well just like last year, the time is almost upon us!

Thursday 31st January is the date of renewed hostilities between Saints and Wigan, and I can’t wait!

With almost inevitable predictability, i again called it right last season....

Season Opener on Thursday 1st February is almost upon us!

Well, Saints and KC went their seperate ways and it was no shock after our lack of direction at times and poor recruitment but with new coach Justin Holbrook arriving in time for Magic Weekend we looked a different team but still one capable of an amazing kamikaze moment or two, and the innate ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat https://youtu.be/OHphpqI3eBI

Or of course, snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory..... https://youtu.be/zyMESo7gYiY

But I’m confident we’ll be there or there abouts again this season, with young talent like Richardson and Grace, old hands like Wilkin and the ever dependable Roby. With some magic from Daily M winner Barba (with a pre season under his belt) I see us in the semis again at season end.

Barbra indeed injected that extra bounce we needed. Unfortunately he lost form (and some might say interest) at a key stage of the season but ultimately the first silverware since 2014 for Saints (in the form of the league leaders shield) was scant reward after a season of losing just 4 games in the league. By comparison, Warrington lost a barely believable 11 games.

Ultimately, we know how the league works and although the final was a grind-fest, it once again proved that you only need to get into the playoff places and then have a couple of good games.

Catalans proved that grunt and brute force would beat superior skill and guile in a one off game, but we shouldn’t be surprised as in Wanes world it happened a few times!

Barba has gone back to Australia with the MOS which I predicted back on 2nd Feb 2018

46-6 winners against Cas and I’m not exaggerating when I say we smashed ‘em!

Ben Barba for man of steel, mark my words (injury’s caveat!)

It’s like a reversal of the Cahllenge cup from last season where we didn’t turn up......

COYS!!!!

Ps walmsley has signed a 4yr as well!!!

(I’d like to thank all the opposition fans for telling us each time we played) and hopefully we will be a bit more balanced, and not trying to put 75% of our plays through one player!

Bring it on!
