Great write up JPE 👍
It’s great when you can put on a watch regardless of brand/cost and it makes you smile
There was discussion about what defines a "tool watch".
I originally bought this Alpha for what... 60 Euros back in the early 2000's. I gave it to my dad who's retired and works on classic cars (as a hobby). His Alpha lasted for 15 years of heavy use. The movement is still going strong but the watch looked like this (tube is broken and the '12 marker dropped off).
I wanted to repair it but couldn't find anyone to do it with a reasonable price. So I bought a used watch head from Ebay for 50 Euros and installed my dad's old extremely scratched and dinged bracelet. Looks fantastic.

PS: That "dirt" on the bracelet is not actually dirt, it's some kind of corrosion.
I also own its role model, Rolex 16710. But I still like to wear this cheap Alpha often. Maybe I'm crazy but I like it how it sits on the wrist and because it tells a "story".

A nice story and I'm not surprised you enjoy wearing it.
Will the bezel and insert swap across?
There’s something cool about a blatant homage that becomes almost genuine in its own right, with its own story and life marks. I think it looks great!
Just switched from my Rolex Sea-Dweller to this. Nothing wrong with it.
PS: Old bracelet and new case together give the SELs a nice "recess".
