    Breakdown cover - which provider?

I've just switched bank account and lost the breakdown cover that I had previously. This was with with Allianz who were superb on the couple of occasions that I used them. I also had AA cover a couple of years ago where the first year was cheap and then the second year shot up astronomically in price and I really don't want to be shopping about every year, I'd prefer to chose a provider and expect to be treated fairly in view of my loyalty. With this in mind, who do people recommend for great service? Thanks in advance.

A number of the companies provide a new form of cover whereby it's something like £25 to be a member and then £50 to deal with each callout.

Worth looking into if all you are looking for is the peace of mind of having someone to call and don't tend to use them more than once a year.

    hi
check out "autoaid" its more of a insurance type cover , operates as all recoveries do, you are covered no matter what the car or who owns it, down side is you pay the recovery fee and then claim it back, has good reviews ,

I currently use start rescue - was restricted because not everyone covers cars over 10 years old. I have one advantage in that there is only one recovery company covering where I live so in that respect it doesn't matter who I'm with so I only have to decide what level of cover I want (the freecover from my bank doesn't provide enough cover so it's worth £1 a week to buy in )

Someone on Martin Lewis site said that you no longer pay and recover the cost.

EDIT: Ts & Cs on their website says "We will arrange and pay call-out fees and labour charges to repair the vehicle at the roadside and so allow your journey to continue."

Have you checked it's not included with your car insurance? Mine has very good breakdown cover (including abroad) included.

    Avoid the RAC.

I switched to GEM about 10 months ago. Decent pricing & good reviews but so far I've not had reason to test their service.

Also look for cashback deals on Quidco - some good offers to be had with the major players, such as 40% on AA:

I'm a big Quidco and Topcashback fan but you can't guarantee cashback so it pays to be cautious when factoring that in to any decision.

It's like most things you need to play the game to get the best deals, before getting a lease car we would cancel and take out a new policy with either the RAC or the AA each year depending on the cash back rates via Quidco and similar.

its been a while since I last claimed, so I stand corrected, and that's a better way to deal with the costs .
