    TV programmes and cars

Having tuned into ITV4 of late I’m enjoying the following

    Minder
    The professionals
    The Sweeny

I just love the cars, Granada 2.8 ghia, Capri GT etc

I’d loved to have owned some of these old cars - anybody got them or similar?

Andy put his money down in the new Supra today
Surely these older cars are now becoming investment cars?

A good place to see those 70s cars is the Classic Motor show great day out. One of my Fav cars from the 70s was the Capri 3.0 Ghia. This is my all time best car my TR6.

I had a chance to buy Mk11 Escort RS2000 a few years ago, really regret not doing in now.

Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn and CCA at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre are quite fun to see, and /or buy what some describe as " everyday classics".

A friend has an Audi Quattro from 1984. Regret not buying a mint one around 10 years ago for 2.5k - worth at least 10x that now!

my dad had a series of company car Granada's in the 70's/early 80's

first was a bronze N reg from memory 3 litre GL
next was a Jupiter red (XHG 695R) 3 litre GL - I haven't a picture and I have no idea how I remember that numberplate
then the next was when they moved to the boxier shape - another Jupiter red with awful tan cloth seats 3 litre Ghia. Last bit of the plate was 814T

I loved those cars & then he switched to Rover SD1 model 2600 ....piece of crap never worked !

Cracking choice. I preferred that to the subsequent 2.8i which was great at lower revs and then seemed to run out of steam at higher revs instead of coming alive.

    Watching this as a kid...

Made me get this as an adult...

Although I don’t remember Bodie and Doyle having issues with gravel car parks!

Everytime I watch the sweeny I want a brown/beige Granada.

I had a 1.1L or was it 1.3L Ford Taunus when I was in Germany, underpowered, brick that wallowed around corners.
Still I have fond memory’s of it.

Me too. Unfortunately I was skint at the time!

My brother in law has two beige MK1 Granadas and a Rover P5B in his garage.
I drove it to a local country fair a couple of years ago (most of them also have small classic car shows attached). It was a pleasant car to drive at normal traffic speeds.

Mine is the same used in the movie Atomic Blond (except mine has the correct spoiler) and different wheels.
