My choice would be the AQ 4030-51 E.

Black dial for best legibility, Citizen's lume is fantastic, and beautifully complex paper dial. This would be a perfect daily for anyone.

If you can wait, maybe see what the Calibre 0100 movement will be housed in. 1spy accuracy is stupendous tech.

    Super Titanium Paper Dial AQ 4020 - 54 Y

Not a dig at either the watch or you, but I find it hilarious that the Grand Seiko is a leftfield choice for those seeking something different from the Swiss mob. Now with GS becoming almost mainstream, a Citizen is the leftfield choice.

Wow I had no idea there was still such a choice to be had.

I would choose this I feel:

    https://citizen.jp/product/the-citiz..._no=AQ4041-54A

or this perhaps is the better all round option:

    https://citizen.jp/product/the-citiz..._no=AQ4030-51A

A lot of current Seiko stuff seems overblown and mostly leaves me cold. The old GS with SEIKO on the dial has a friendlier face than the new.
My first A660 Citizen Chronomaster was a revelation and opened my eyes to the brand.
Not sure that TZUK has much of a left field tendency though.

This man is a genius !

    First impressions:

Watch weight 83 grams with two removed links. WITH BRACELET ! Feather light, super comfortable on wrist.

It wears like 8-9 mm height watch (extra 2-3mm adds double domed crystal, look photo no.1)

Dial is mesmerising, almost impossible to show on photos, it really sparkles....

Hand aligment (hour, minute, second hand, date window) is 10/10.

And accuracy is death on (I own a watch for about half an hour, so...)

Watch came GMT +9, correct date and minutes/seconds, so I have just unscrew the crown, pull it to first position, rotate hour hand to my time and voila !

Well done OP! Yep its a excellent watch and glad to see it within the community. The best of Citizen, and in some ways the best of quartz!

Any chance of a lume shot for me?

At last some real owner pics - been drooling over these for a year or so - i really fancy a white paper dial - such cool tech in a lovely package.

Is the seller from ebay ?

    cheers

    Blue top left 4030-51L.

Or maybe white paper dial for a more dressier look.

54x or z for me (coloured dials) - the rest are bit samey

    A really beautiful watch.

The accuracy is also stunning and good to think you could go a whole year without having to adjust the time apart from a simple DST adjustment.

What am I missing? All I can see are a selection of very ordinary looking Citizen watches but at silly prices!

What do you think of a Rolex Datejust for instance? A watch that is the epitome of an ordinary looking watch, way more 'ordinary' looking than the Citizen and yet perhaps three times times the price for a watch that doesn't keep time very well by comparison with the average watch never mind the Citizen.

It does have 'Rolex' on the dial though!

So, just like any normal quartz watch then!

I like everything about it. Then I went onto the site and saw the price :-(

It may well be an amazing watch, but I can't get my head around Citizens being at those prices. But, to be fair, I feel the same about watch prices in general. They are getting sillier with each passing year.
