For me it just doesn’t have the wow factor that the previous model had?

I am on the cusp of a reservation, with a hope for the A90. But, my problem is simply, as an alternative do I want/need a soft top, with 7/8 months sunshine here. Not sure what that alternative would look like - Boxster S, TTRS, Mustang, F Type V8 etc?

    Any links?

I nearly bought one second hand back in the 80s. Great looking car as I recall.

On the fence until I can see one and see reviews. It’s a lot of money so needs to deliver interior wise as well as performance. Alpine is it’s benchmark so time will tell.

I prefer its BMW sibling, not just on looks but also for the soft-top.
The last Supra I liked, styling wise, was the Mk3.

Indeed, but I detect pre orders have not been as high as Toyota U.K. hoped.

It’s a z4 basically isn’t it, hardly a hardcore Toyota, I like the look of it but wouldn’t it be nice if it wasn’t a German car really

As my brother in law said, it's like a size 16 woman in a size 6 dress. Lots of bulges, not necessarily in the right places.

I managed about 30 seconds, what a nauseating c**t the presenter is.

It looks like the lovechild of the Z4 and Civic R. Great if you're entering midlife crisis and want to be 12 again

The presenter is perfect for the car btw. I managed 40 seconds of the video but I was really trying for a full minute.

I’d rather have a used Z4M coupe and £40K in the bank.

Not great looking to me, but we all like different things and may look better in the metal.

I’m a little disappointed it’s based on a Z4, especially after the work done by Lexus on bespoke sports cars over the last decade, I was hoping for something original.

40 years ago I bought a new 1980 Celica "Black Package" like the one below, because I couldn't pony-up the extra thousand or so to buy the new Supra, which I adored!

Actually, I just found a photo of my Celica (a 1980). I took off the rear window louvres for the winter! This pic was on a ski trip.

From some angles it looks very unresolved, styling wise and from others looks quite striking! This side view is horrible imho but I’d reserve judgement until I see one in person as the red seems to suit it so much better than German Grey!

I bet it’s great to drive but at £52/54k it’s gonna have it’s work cut out with some of the cars around that price tag!

It’s up against the z4 it shares dna with, plus Merc C43 coupe, Audi S5 and the ubiquitous Boxster and Cayman!

With the majority of this type of car being financed on PCP, PCH OR BUSINESS LEASE residual value will have a massive effect on its success. With the GT86, the poor residual always made it an expensive PCP car, but the relative rarity of the Supra should help.

Looks as though it was designed by a teenager - styling is way too fussy! Can't believe a company once capable of bringing us something as beautiful as a Toyota 2000 GT can now come up with that.

It's going to be sold like hot cakes in the US. Their idea of a cool car is somewhat(...) different from the European idea. Given the low numbers of cars to be sold here, Toyota will be not interested in our opinion. Which is a shame, really. Because they sometimes hit it big with 'US-market only' designs. Like the Toyota Highlander. Same goes for Nissan with their Armada.

When I read it was based on the z4 I thought yes maybe they’ve nicked some of the good bit, watched a few videos last night and the interior is all Bmw from what I saw. As others have said, hope the engineers spent their time on other stuff like handling rather than on all the stick in tat.

Also the front lip in some of the pictures looks unusually high compared to the other side of the wheel arch near the door?

I like it but then I am a fan of Japanese design that shows a bit of flair and eccentricity, although I agree with an earlier comment on some Z4 resemblance. German cars are evermore bland and generic as they seemingly mimic each other, it all looks too serious and boring for me. I am a Type R owner though so many will laugh at my car choice!

I was looking forward to seeing it, but I really don't like the styling. Far too fussy and taking design cues from other brands and blending them together!

I've currently got an F-Type and have owned a Boxster before (and did have the TTRS on the list too due to the tuning options). I think the Boxster (or Cayman) is the better car though - much better build quality than the Jag, and so well balanced for tight twisty roads.

The Jag looks lovely and sounds great, but after 7 months with one, I'm looking to change back to a German brand

No, no and thrice no. Just plain nasty especially at £50k.

The new MR2 looks slightly better, but it's marginal.

Agreed - from some angles it looks good. From others it's "trying too hard"

I could see nothing on the Toyota website about how heavy it is?????

Also - auto only? Not even flappy paddles, or have I missed something?

I expect it will be slaughtered in group tests by the Alpine & Cayman.

Also looks a lot smaller than the previous Supra, if I remember correctly it was more of a GT type size?

I don't like it at all, In my opinion it looks really cheap. The red colour does nothing for it either the grey is much nicer.

It strikes me as a car a lad from Wigan would drive wearing a Burberry cap.

I quite like it, I am a bit of a Jap car fan boy admittedly.

I just don't know its going to be good enough for the money. Could they not have stuck a turbo on the GT86 and tuned that a bit instead? I know the GT86 is getting on a bit but I think that would be more in the spirit of Toyota's performance models; just like when the 80's Celica evolved into the Celica Supra 2.8i

I'm coming across as a hater I know but I think it looks really awful. Like a GT86 with one of those Mansory body kits.

Also, forgive me but the Supra was never held in that high regard so I don't see why people are getting so misty eyed about it.

BMW will absolutely CHURN Z4s out as they usually do. They will probably be projected to have better residuals than the Supra and as seems to be the norm with BMW they will throw discounts of !0%- 20% at any customer taking finance.

From experience of looking to buy a GT86 a few years ago I also suspect that many Toyota dealerships still don't know how to sell a car like this. They are far too used to selling crossovers and family hatchbacks these days.
