Tasty little watch. Case and fire blued hands are a work of art.

    Smiths Military PRS-29AM

First post on the UK side of TZ. Just picked up my first TF watch and was extremely impressed by its quality.

I was actually on a historic pilot watches kick and was ruminating about the Longines when I saw the AM.

Too serendipitous to pass up. Glad I didn’t!

    Strap: Hirsch Liberty
Jacket: Eastman Leather RAF Irvin 1940 Pattern.

Agreed, really very good pics. Not sure about the strap, though. While the Liberty is a lovely strap, on the AM it's a bit like a supermodel wearing army boots (IMVHO).

I agree. I've had a few Libertys over the years on various watches, but IMHO it's too thick for this watch head.

Thanks guys. I was looking for something historic for the strap, but didn’t really know what would fit the bill.

In the end, I actually quite like how the Liberty resembled the horsehide facings/straps of the Irvin; as if the paraloft cobbled something together from what was lying around the shop. The guys in my day were pretty ingenious with that stuff!

Anyway, it’ll do until I can find something more appropriate.

A great watch in any case. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

There's a review here, I didn't know it was being reviewed.
