    BT Sport Question

We will be updating our very old TV in the near future. Currently I Chromecast BT Sport from my tablet. I'm guessing this is only SD ? If I pay the extra for a UHD BT subscription does the BT YouView box have to physically be plugged into the TV and the Ethernet cable also.
The reason for my question is our Internet main socket is upstairs but the new TV will be downstairs.

In general yes, although there are ways to get round the issue. The new box should sit under the new TV & you could use Powerline adapters or Wi-fi to get the signal from the internet connection to the BT box.

Note that the performance of the Powerline adapters can be variable depending on your mains wiring so if you can you might like to find/borrow a pair you can test before buying a set. Whether Wi-fi is good enough depends on the proximity of your VDSL router & teh BT box.

Thanks for confirming that. I had suspected as much. I'm upgrading my Internet and BT have confirmed I will get a minimum 30MB so will see how it goes.

If you’re streaming from a tablet and chromecasting it, then it’s HD, you don’t need a BT HD subscription.

I’ve got BT TV, but only get BT Sport in SD via the BT YouView box as part of that package, so if I want it in HD I just chromecast it.

I’m upgrading the TV package soon to get a few more HD channels via the box, and I have it connected to my router fine using power line connectors.
