    SC Advice please

So, as a newbie I can now view SC but can't post. I'm just a bit unsure as I assumed that I couldn't actually buy/sell until I hit the minimum requirements. However I'm now thinking that maybe the bar on posting is just to prevent a newbie starting a sales thread - but is it within forum rules to make an offer to buy ( via PM)? Or do I just 'window shop' until I am fully bone fide?
Thanks ( Sorry for query, just want to keep to rules/spirit but a site search under faq hasn't proved positive)

You can send messages and buy as far as I know.

I think it’s 200 or 250 posts before you can list for sale, but nothing to stop you sending a PM in response to a sale thread if you wish to purchase as I have done a few times.

Easy answer is to get involved in the forum and join in, surprising how your post count will rise and you’ll be become accepted/established.

Trust and reputation still count for a lot on TZ, it doesn’t happen overnight!

As already said, join in and your post count will be above 250 by the time you've been here for six months, which is the other restriction.

TZ-UK is a discussion Forum which happens to have a sub-forum where we can buy and sell old clothes, shoes, and the occasional watch. As you've probably noticed.

Does the SC part of the forum get auto switched on or does a moderator have to do it ?

I believe the owner, Eddie, sorts it out. He’s a busy man so if it’s yet sorted be patient and ye shall have access in due course.

That's cool - many years ago when at University I was involved in running a forum - I understand the at times thankless task it can be

Would you be interested in becoming a moderator here?

Not sure i have the knowledge to be honest - I'm pretty new to watches and have been recommended here by a friend, have spent a bit of time this weekend reading between the watches fourm (for knowledge and learning and seeing some beautiful pieces) and then just joining in the chat in here

As noted, there's no restriction on making a purchase via PM once you have reached the minimum requirements for viewing SC.

The OP is doing pretty well in that respect for a relatively new member of this community.

I think it's 50 posts and 60 days membership Ritchie before you can view SC

    Once again thanks for replies

That's correct, and 250 posts + 180 days membership before you can post there. Such scant "rules" we have here, yet many dive in and don't bother to read or engage. (read and engage, not to be confused with banging out a given number of posts)

Don't worry, the only moderator here is the owner.

If you are not awfully busy next weekend, I'd recommend to brush up reading between the lines old bean

It's 50 posts and 60 days membership. I have just gained access this weekend.

I agree the FAQ was not very clear ,so I contacted the admin with the contact us at the bottom of the main page. The terms were all explained in a email to me.

I logged out and back in and hey Presto! Sales corner came up and WTB

You need to wait 60 days. You've only just joined.

In answer to your question I bought a few watches before I could post in SC. Just pm the seller.
