Of those hotels - The Mercure but try The Leopold- good curry house in Leopold Square too.
It appears that I'll be in Sheffield between the 9th and 11th May and wonder if there is anything I should know?
Hotel options being considered include the Mercure, Hampton by Hilton or possibly the Jurys Inn; would happily consider other possibilities as long as they are fairly central. The 9th is looking like a free evening and I wonder if there is the faintest possibility of arranging a GTG (preferably ending with a trip to a curry house). If this idea has any traction I'll start a new thread nearer the time.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

The Leopold is in the town centre in a nice conversion of an old technical school.
As has been mentioned, there’s a good curry place there called Aagrah.
I don’t think there’s ever been a Sheffield GTG but I’d come along if there’s some interest.
Third hand up for the Leopold. Lovely place to stay and not your every day hotel. Also Wagamama next door too... mmmm....spicy noodles.
Not tried the Leopold but Mercure is very pleasant

Thanks for the responses so far - we'll make a decision about the hotel later and book it.
Looks like there has been at least one Sheffield GTG before.

8 years ago so before my time.
Strange choice of venue!
The Hampton is actually really nice and very close to Kelham Island area for a nice drink (better than the city centre)
Although I live in Sheffield (as far north of it as you can get) I stay at the Hampton quite a bit instead of getting a taxi home (caveat by saying I do get it for free due to my Hilton points).
The others mentioned are nice too though.
