    Good and bad news...

Bad news, was dragged back to JL as the wife wanted to go shopping! But, the good news was they found the correct box and everything is as it should be!

I'm elated with mine. A awful lot of watch for the money. Easily best bang for buck in my modest collection

I was comparing it to my Pam 671 which had a list price of 14k plus. No way is the Pam worth 70x more than this Seiko.

Thanks OP. I'd never have bought a Seiko this week were it not for your heads up

Got mine through from another member.

Quick question for the owners, is mine normal? Opened the box and noticed a couple of lines which at first I thought were scratches reflecting on the dial but they’re actually something to do with the solar cell as they’re under the dial.

Seem a bit obvious to me? I’ve had solar watches before and never noticed something like it? Or does everyone else’s look the same?

It stands out like a sore thumb so assume mine has a broken cell or something (as I’m sure I’d have seen it in others pics)

    No it’s under the dial.

It’s a solar powered watch so the dial is see through obviously and then I’m assuming there’s a pickup solar panel under there.

I guess this one is busted then if yours isn’t the same.

    Hi James

Really sorry, I didn't even look at them before buying and sending. Just assumed brand new, would be fine. This is a picture of one I took when I got back from the shop and although dark the dial looks fine. Must be the other one.

Send it back to me and I'll refund you and send the watch back to John Lewis or alternatively you can return for store credit or use the warranty as the watch has a full warranty.

Really sorry, let me know what you'd like to do.

It’s fine, wanted to ask others first.

It looks normal to me going off the other pics I’ve seen online where you can see the lines in the same position so it must just be the solar part that’s all. I think it’s just certain light it stands out a lot more.

It's part of the solar panel I think.

The two I had/have have both got it.

There's a thread somewhere on wus about it.

Is it these lines, circled in red you are referring to? Also saw what looks like smudged (circled yellow)

Thanks to Wiley for a superb gesture, mine is on its way as well!! Looking forward to this one!

Thanks for the input. Was relieved when I saw them on other pics, was just when lewie said his isn’t like it I was a bit concerned.

Yeah the two lines, you can make them out in other google pics I’ve shown. The other bit is just where I wiped the glass and is just remains of finger prints.

Yep, grateful to Wiley for sure.

Must admit I didn’t even know it had lume on the bezel!

Pretty cool little watch for the money.

Just for the hell of it I tried a stainless shroud on mine as I like two tone but couldn't fit it properly due to the third fixing hole being at the 3 o'clock position and also the overall height of the shroud needs to be 2mm higher but I liked the look so next year some time I will make one to fit correctly.

Nice idea of a stainless shroud on it.
After checking today looks like mine has also come with the wrong box. Came in a Save the ocean one. I'll give them a quick bell tomorrow for a swap.

Yobokies also does a DLC shroud. Looks quite a bit more shiny. Mine hasn’t arrived yet but read so far that the standard black shroud looks great.

Yeah certainly don’t have any complaints with the shroud. The beauty of this watch is the value prop and beater appeal, start spending money modding it and suddenly you’ve not got a cheap watch and you start being more precious with it.

Mine also came in a Save the ocean box. When I returned to query it the lady (who by her own account) had little knowledge of watches said that the watch was from the range of Save the ocean line. As the Save the ocean box looked nicer than the plain alternative she offered me from a different Seiko watch I decided not to question her any further. 👍

no, its not the correct box. should be normal prospex box, blue squarish one iirc, though a couple here have said they gotten white ones, which could be the case as well.

it also means that someone who bought a STO series watch from John Lewis would have gotten the normal box.

I'm going to return mine to JL later today/tomorrow if anyone would like it? Completely unworn except for in the shop when i tried it on for size.
Would love to keep it but my boiler has just had a meltdown and any fix is likely to be expensive.

I've just taken this back so if anyone wants it you may get lucky in JL at the Trafford centre, Manchester.

  32. #82
JL watford had one in store marked up for £189.50 just an hour ago. Tucked away in bottom corner of a tall diplay case so not easy to spot.

Have kept looking at these following this thread, since I have been in Japan for a few weeks I went to a few shops and ended up falling for this special edition one instead. SBDJ045

Really happy with it and they gave me a free Seiko waterproof divers bag, which is a nice trinket.

    Nice ^

One thing I keep admiring about mine is the matte bezel finish, really nice.
