Black Friday up here in Manchester but more recently I’ve heard it referred to as Black Eye Friday too.
Where I live (N Devon) it’s always been known as ‘Factory Friday’ where everyone goes out and drinks all day. Irony is nowadays is there’s barely any factories left.
Only reason I ask is that on Westcountry local news they said it was called ‘Black Eye Friday’ due to the punch ups I guess.

Traditionally Black Eye Friday here in Durham, albeit with very few fisticuffs these days. Too difficult to remove blood stains from expensive designer labelled clothes I imagine.

Mad Friday is the last Friday booze-up before Christmas, and has been for about the last 30 years.
Black Friday is something totally different - the stupid Thanksgiving sales in America (the equivalent to our January sales following Christmas) which have made their way across the pond to us.
"Black Eye Friday" is an amalgamation of the two given that casual drinkers tend to turn out on "Mad Friday" and get leathered, often ending up in punch ups after discovering they can't handle their ale.
Until recently I’d never heard any of these terms!
There’s definitely a problem with the occasional drinkers going out and getting pissed, then getting into rows. They drink more than they’re used to and become argumentative, classic case of ‘can’t take your ale’.........and the women can be just as bad.
Mad Friday or black eye Friday here

Black eye Friday or P45 Monday (or actually both) if it used to coincide with the corporate Christmas piss up.
