RIP Paddy. Always seemed a genuinely nice chap.
RIP old fruit. Never been aligned with his views, still :salute: is in order.

RIP Paddy. Always seemed a genuinely nice chap.
Ex Marine, SBS, MI5, MI6 certainly deserves a salute... RIP
Sorry to hear that.

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
I always got the feeling he knew a lot more about the real world than most of his brethren in politics...
Legend. His autobiography, A Fortunate Life, is an amazing read, it could easily pass as a work of fiction, the crazy life Paddy led.
RIP sir
Always had a lot of respect for Paddy and he was a voice of common sense on many an occasion, but to me he will always be Paddy Pants Down. You have to credit the headline writers with that one.
I watched a documentary the other week that he presented about the SBS guys in WW2 who invaded a French port in no more than a simple kayak and he was really good.
He never did eat his hat did he...
RIP
One of the few politicians that seemed to have some integrity. R.I.P.
Didn't always agree with his politics but I particuarly liked his no nonsence practical style. A rare politician who had lived alot, seen the world and experienced something deeper than the Westminster bubble.
RIP Paddy, you seemed like one of the few good ‘uns’ in that place.
RIP. We could certainly do with a few more like him.
Shame.
Seemed a decent guy.
Never agreed with his politics but always respected him. Wish that were true for more politicians.

I enjoyed this recent interview with the man - what a life he lived!
Whether you agree or not with his liberalism what a genuine bloke he was, not only a credit to British politics but the military and intelligence services RIP
