Proud father moment, and some Benny Goodman jazz content ...

As some of you know, I work in music and music education and, apart from selling drum kits on TZ-UK, I'm also proud to have a son who is finishing his fourth year at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) where he has studied jazz percussion/drum kit. I'm a strong believer in our children studying what they love. The RNCM put it like this:

This is great advice for anyone talking to a young person about their higher education options.

Anyway, my son was playing with the RNCM Big Band last week and they had Pete Long, musical director of the Ronnie Scott's Big Band, performing with then. Here they all are playing a the Benny Goodwin classic Sing, Sing, Sing. I hope you enjoy it.

I can’t get it to work (invalid parameters) on my phone but shouldn’t it be ‘Swing, swing, swing’?

I went to a RNCM gig earlier this year. It was the choir and they took it in turns to lead with the rest backing.
I can honestly say they were all phenomenal, definitely one of the best live shows I’ve seen. The talent on display, both singers and backing band were amazing.
I know they do free lunchtime concerts too which I should check out more.
I too, couldn’t view the video, but if his group was anything like what I saw, I’ve no doubt it would be really really good.

Really excellent - your son is an fine drummer and that number is a real showcase for his talents. I'm not surprised you are proud!

Thanks for the comments. I checked the link and it is fine my end. I'm really unsure why this isn't working. Sorry. I'll try and find another way to host it on our YouTube channel perhaps. Give me a few minutes.

That is absolutely amazing, and will have made you, quite justifiably, burst with pride.

It is so heart-warming to see youngsters being able to fulfill their dreams, whilst being encouraged, and allowed to use their talent in this way.

The RNCM is one of a number of specialist Institutions that nurtures pure talent in a variety of students, from all walks of life.
Congratulations to you, as proud parents, and to your son on such a display.

I’m sure we will see more of his work in the future, and I look forward to it!
