    I think one on the left is from 2006 and the one on the right is from 1989.

    Cheers, I was getting mixed up and thought the 99 on each signified the year of production. That would explain alot.
    Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

    99 = UK (national identification in NATO stock numbering system).

    Is the 89 fatter than the 06?

    These progressed from fat, mid-fat to thin, but I can’t remember the years.

    As you do it, listen to strap crying, knowing that it will never be fitted to another watch, ever again. If it can't make it on a G10, it can't make it anywhere.

    When I bought that watch, it was still covered in proper authentic military filth. I do apologise for scraping it off.

    Very nice! I like the braided strap. Is it a 19mm?

    99 is the NATO code number for the UK.

    I think it’s;

    80-82 for the fat case
    83 for the mid
    84 onwards for the slim case

    Both of these are the same thickness. I've never had a fatty.

    I've just written a post on my blog about the fat case G10's (see here). What you describe as mid is only about 1mm thinner than full fat. I have one full fat, issued in 1982 and a pair of the slightly thinner examples, one from '83 and one from '84. My understanding is that the mid-case continued until 1987 when the current slim case was introduced.

    Slim, bottom; full fat middle, semi-skimmed top.

    Thanks Martin,

    I always thought 84 was the start of the slim cases as my 84 Precista is just that, slim cased (the same as my 95 CWC 0555).

    I admit, I don’t see many 85-88 CWC’s coming up for sale that often so that probably explains my own reasoning
