Go for the the cheap gun.
The cheaper the better.
An expensive or accurate replica will mark you out as an anorak.
A bit of an odd one I know, but I'm going to cowboy themed fancy dress thing on New Year's eve and I am just considering my options. Do I spend £10 on plastic kid's gun and throw it away or a bit more an get something to keep? I'm sure there will be a few rounds (caps) let off at midnight and I would like to join in!
Anyone have any insight? The usual sources (ebay, Amazon) bring up a toys of undefinable quality and size and google shows it's possible to spend a couple hundred £'s on serious replicas but I fancy something mid range, around £50?
Cheers - Simon

A few caps out of a good replica let off in public might just get you a visit from a few with Glocks that will neither be impressed or use blanks.

Something plastic and as obviously fake as possible would be the safest bet. Previous posts weren't too cautious.
Not a good idea. If its any way realistic and you are in a public place for any length of time you are exposed to numerous potential problems. Most of which will boil down to you being in the wrong if someone reports you.
I believed that now all blank firing replicas had to be finished in day glo colours to try and help prevent the police from ‘gatting’ citizens in error and that you needed some kind of certification and valid reason such as prop provision for the film and tv industry.
Thanks for all the advice. I have gone for the “obvious toy” option.
Sadly it's a sign of the times that that is the wise choice. Have a great time 😀
Try this for size https://www.amazon.co.uk/Loftus-Powe...with+Bang+sign
Think its relatively safe.

I’d like to thank you for your erudite and illuminating reply.
This would seem to support my understanding http://21infantry.co.uk/forum/printthread.php?tid=12
Perhaps you could throw some more light on this?
Did you mean the omission on my part that anyone over 18 can buy the day-glo option, but for realistic blank firing replicas have the restrictions?

It's perfectly legal for Simon to purchase a current replica 6 gun for his New Years celebrations.
as for anything else may I suggest you bugger off back to your much loved Brexit thread and argue with your cronies there.
Hmmmmm...

Again, Simon is after a colt peacemaker, exempt pre 1870, also cannot be adapted.
now I understand you are an argumentative f*ck, and had to run off to the draft thread because you felt slighted on this thread but please just pi$$ of back to the bear pit to argue Brexit as it suits your acidic nature better.
So let’s get this right you respond to my post with a unhelpful single word response, make no attempt to open a dialogue or clarify any misunderstanding. I respond and ask for clarification and you can’t/won’t and tell me to bugger off.
I quote multiple sellers who clearly state rules relating to replica gun sales and you dish out more abuse... I suggest you have a look in the mirror and re-evaluate who’s argumentative and acidic...
As for the op buying a peacemaker well, it looks like the sellers belive they fall within the restricted category, but what would they know, they just sell them.

I’ll await your apology...

Who would have thought a thread regarding dressing up as a cowboy on New Year’s Eve could cause an argument? People need to lighten up a bit, life’s too short!
Here you are Simon, available now.

Seriously, they’re legal to buy but to carry around in this climate?
The chances that it goes wrong are small, but if they do the consequences are genuinely not worth it.

You guys are out of touch.
It's not legal to SELL someone a replica anything unless they have a defence under the VCRA outlined earlier.
You can only be sold a RIF if it's dayglo'd without such a defence.
New Years Eve parties are not a valid defence...
