Sorry Bill, I’m not sure I understand. Can you expand a little? Thanks.
some really good shots - my initial comment would be,
unless you are selling the watch, sometimes you can get too close and all parts of the image including the bg can add to the quality of the shot
Sorry Bill, I’m not sure I understand. Can you expand a little? Thanks.
Your close ups are really good, but for me some of the watches need more space around them, ( not a lot but more, but NOT to position the subject in the centre of the frame - space to look into and space around the subject, or to the right/left/what is appropriate - you have achieved this in several of your shots, but some for me are really tight and centered - (unless as I said you are using the images to illustrate the quality/condition of the watches) -....................the usual composition considerations
But as I said, really good images

Thanks, but I can’t take credit for the OPs photographs, just interested to understand better the observations.
Great shots!

Nice photo’s - what equipment/lighting are you using?

Thanks.
Currently I use Nikon DX-80 and Nikkor AF-5 18-200 zoom for watch photos. But I have shot watch photos with different cameras.
I got amazing photos with cheap Canon Powershot A520. It's all about the lighting, not the camera that much.
I had my own lightbox which always takes a little bit of time to construct and currently I just use a 20€ Chinese light tent from Ebay. :D
Love the Breitling wrist shot!
Great photos, my fav was the partially submerged Aquaracer, but generally all sharp, well exposed and good control of DoF. Check those backgrounds though, sometimes they distract from the watch and are easily eliminated with some careful planning. Also not really keen on the composite images but that's a personal thing, they are well executed though.
Top tip, off to buy one. I've been into photography for a long while but recently sold my Nikon D200 and lenses preferring the compact size of my Panasonic DMC LX100 and Olympus Tough. The tough has a great macro lens but I don't have a polarising filter and I'm finding glare tricky on watch glass.
I'm ashamed of my watch pics so far, but will try a tent and maybe polariser to better control the light and reflections.
Some of these shots are worthy of a real life advertising campaign!
Very nice. You have captured the Explorer II (or Explorer 11 as per some) beautifully.
Love your photo of the Ebel BTR it's sublime
