Steinhart produce a lot of limited editions which tend to attract a lot of interest - but they are produced for small boutique shops, foreign specialist forums, and geographical specific Facebook groups mostly. This makes them hard to find and normally by the time you hear of one it’s too late it sold out.
So I decided to set up a Facebook group for their Ltd editions only (ie not sold on their site). Should be useful to gather together in one place the various LEs that are being produced. If anyone is interested feel free to join - I’m sure there will be watches you haven’t seen before and being Ltd Editions only there won’t be very many homage pieces

I must admit that I have grown tired of Steinhart releasing their most stunning watches to select audiences. Most of their nicest pieces like the Macau Green, the Hong Kong Blueberry GMT and the PanAm GMT etc are not available to their everyday customers.
Even the special editions released through Gnomon (the Legacy, the Military super dome and Great White Maxi) are not available on the main Steinhart website or through their chain of Authorised dealers. It seems to be a case of Joe Public can buy the bog standard watches that they mass produce so that they can make a living and that in turn will feed our 'special' production line that looks after our preferred customer base.
I completely agree with Greg, it is wrong that we should have to trawl through Facebook to find these things. I personally dislike Facebook and refuse to sign up. I have no interest in letting burglars know that I am on holiday or sharing with the world a picture of my lunch.
Getting back to Steinhart. I have been a strong advocate for the brand and a collector and have started several threads on here over the last few years, but enough is enough. I currently only have one Steinhart, which is listed for sale - so once that is gone I am calling it quits.
As this is a public part of the forum, I would love someone at Steinhart to see this this and to give Gunter the nod that his preferential treatment of the few seriously hacks off those who had otherwise been loyal supporters.
Yup it can be tricky finding where the forum/boutique editions are done, which is the reason for the page to give you greater access. Anyway the burglar thing only happens if you’re stupid enough to actually post that you are on holiday. I have location turned off always .

I have no problem with a small group of enthusiasts having a Watch made up for them in limited numbers, but my point is that the same Watch should be freely available to all on the main website and the only difference between the two should be some special engraving on the caseback of the limited edition.
Take the Gunter Steinhart GMT for example. That is how it should work, I can buy the bog standard version from any dealer, but the Gunter had an engraved caseback and an acrylic crystal.
How much is the PanAm anyway? The fact that it is 39mm and not 42mm puts me off - but the point remains, why isn't there a PanAm freely available. I shouldn't have to join 20 Facebook groups like you did, pay a premium to a profiteer on e-bay or place multiple WTBs on various watch forums.
The Panam is €550. This isn’t a steinhart only thing though Ken. Tudor bucherer Tudor Harrods omega Tuesday and on and on. Limited editions are just a thing. It is what it is. We either hunt them and buy them or we don’t.
I followed your link and all I get is 'closed group'. Any links to the Steinhart seller or how to join the group. Tried several times and gave up.

Closed group just means joining isn’t automatic on visiting the page. There should be s join button under the main page picture, unless your on the app - I’ve never used the app - I’m talking pc browser
Instead of people having to join groups and remember to engage with it, wouldn't it be easier if when you get the nod from your FB group you post a picture of said watch on here with a link to the shop selling it and any associated details, then people can buy if they want to.
Sent an e-mail to the German boutique and received a favourable response. They still have a few watches left and they sent me their payment details. After about 10 mins on a Google German to English translation service I can now follow the full text. The main message was in English, but all the bank details were in German.
Decision time I suppose.
They are doing a coke one too but the Pepsi just looks better I think.
The group isn’t just to highlight up and coming LEs Ken, it’s for sharing the many LEs that they’ve done that most have never even seen - you’d be surprised how many they’ve done - amazing variety of design too which flies in the face of their public image
I agree with the variety and highlighted a list earlier of the watches that have been produced. I wouldn't buy a Coke, but it's a shame the insert isn't available to those who buy the Pepsi and visa-versa.
Next there will be waiting lists and warranty cards being retained.. just like their idols

Have to agree, there has been so many already I never knew existed! Probably not up on Steinhart’s as most....but it’s great to see the LE’s that have been released over the years!
I have a new want for the “The French” however I’m sure that won’t happen!

Typical watch snobbery comment that stops micro brands being discussed more on this forum. Firstly a lot of people on here cannot afford a watchbox full of Rolex and perhaps if 'their idols' bothered to supply the shops with their watches boring farts like you wouldn't endlessly bleet on about waiting lists, stickers, cards being retained. For F's sake there are other brands out there.
I have owned more Rolex than Steinhart and in all honesty, I prefer the Steinharts. Certainly the people who collect them are far more interesting than The Rolex must have brigade.

I’ve never owned a Rolex and nor would wish to. I was taking the urine out of the Rolex fanboys. Quite happy with my Steinhart 39mm GMT.

Decided to leave the PanAm GMT due to it being 39mm rather than 42mm, which is a great shame. I just can't get on with the smaller size and would only end up selling it.
The hunt for a GMT continues. There is guy from Oz on e-bay selling the Hong Kong LE but he wants crazy money, so I will pass on that one as well.
What I really need is a normal 42mm Pepsi that's had the cyclops removed. Stupidly I had one and sold it. I have seen a 39mm Pepsi with the cyclops removed but again the small size made it a no go for me.
The answer is to buy the Vintage GMT Dual Time, which I have also previously owned, but they rarely come up for sale second hand. There is one on e-bay at present at £800 that is 2 years old and right at the end of the warranty period. I did message the guy and point out that Chronomaster have it listed at £740 brand new and that his price was madness. I did offer him £500 stating that 2/3s of list price for a watch at the end of its warranty period was a reasonable and fair offer, but he wasn't impressed. I think his watch will sit on e-bay for months or even years just like that Russian Tulips LE - unless some idiot with deep pockets and no idea of the new prices clicks on it.
The Macau Green would also do...
Update: someone paid £800 for the Hong Kong LE at 01:30 this morning. That is a healthy profit, hope the buyer isn't in the UK as there will be another £160 VAT to pay in a week or so.

I know the Macau isn't a GMT, but I would still have one. It is very similar to the Legacy.
Will do a WTB so I don't get accused of using this thread to find a Watch.

If you go on the Gnomon website you can fill in their alert on this watch and they will e-mail you when it is next back in stock. You have to be quick though when it comes through as last time they did sell out quite quickly.
Saves paying over the odds on the likes of e-bay.

I’m wearing a 39mm ovm on a nato as my faily wearer. All good , never had to wind it in 4 weeks.
I have a 42mm mk1 OVM ( proper black dial) I should aim to sell on soon.
The secondary prices on those have settled to sensible levels of late. After the madness of people paying £500 to £600 and the release of the Mark 3 with the Black dial prices have come down. A nice one with boxes etc should easily fetch £350 on SC.
Just a note to anyone who was following this thread, it has effectively died as all the activity has moved across to Facebook.
