Advice needed from the tactical bag experts

I am spending a lot of time whipping in and out of London and various places on the train.

I could do with a new smallish light bag that I could get a surface go (iPad sized), a charger in. My saddleback bags are frankly a bit big for so little gear.

What do the tactical/EDC hivemind recommend?

I am no expert in these matters Alan, but I think you need to consider exactly what tactics you intend to employ on your commute, and what challenges you may face.

For example, at Chipping Norton Railway Station you might find yourself having to deal with a busy and somewhat disorganised coffee and snacks kiosk peopled by poorly trained and beligerent students.

What kind of tactics would you be prepared to deploy in such a situation? Waiting? Queue jumping? Repeatedly looking at your watch while hoping the trains run true to form and are late?

And what about sandwiches, a bag of crisps, or condoms? Will you need to eat or use these en-route, or when you have arrived at your destination? Think carefully because ease and speed of access could be important.

And finally, the TicTacTrump question. You are likely to be standing for much of your journey, despite having paid a king's ransom for the fare. If you are crushed into immediate and potentially intimate contact with a member of the fairer sex you may wish to do the gentlemanly thing and discreetly slip a mint into your cakehole (without being too obvious about it). Think about how your tactical bag could support this tactical tic tac manoeuvre.

Just don't try and "Trump" her. That's illegal almost everywhere except in the USA apparently.

Hope that helps with this big decision.

Damn - this is more complex than I thought! Need to think about this so I cover full spectrum all of the tactical and operational options.

I think the chances of you finding anything tactical to match the brothel creepers you've just bought are very small in number.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I've always found Crumpler gear to be robust and pretty funky looking too in a not too sensible kind of way. For example….

One of my first sobering experiences as an adult was going to a casino for the first time - I thought it was going to be James Bond glamour and it was takeaway owners pulling the evening's takings from a carrier bag.
