Bumped back up to the top to attract the New Year Resolutioner's.

Back into Mizuno Waveriders again after a 4 year break, I must admit they do seem more cushioned and spongy than the last pair I had!

Completed the 3.55 mile pace race today, went much quicker than my predicted time (24.47 versus 27.25)

Winner predicted 18.15 and ran 18.14 which is incredible and they were also first across the line

Well after a two year break (maybe the odd run here and there) and struggling to get the mojo back, I have decided enough is enough and just back from my first 5k for nearly two years, just over the 30 minutes.

It's the first time running since running a couple of times on the prom in Marbella in August following my wife's trainers and hoping this group will give me the push and incentive I need.

    Happy New Years all.

Managed 6.4km this morning, stuck to the red wine last night and never even had a whisky
Felt good today but was pretty cold.

Likewise! I might try a few short runs, but I’m unlikely to do a lot - at least I’ll try and record it when I do :)
It's just a matter of time...

Not happy.... ran for an hour and fifteen and only covered 7.1 miles! Mind you there was a 300ft hill on my way definitely getting fitter due to this club. Hoping to put another 5 miles in tomorrow after work

Been lazy all the way through xmas and haven’t been out for a run since 21/12 I’ve been out on the bike twice

Back to work tomorrow though so will set my alarm for 6.10 and get out to do a mile or two (despite the frost)

When you upload post run…. Not sure about the more sophisticated Fitbits?

Edit: It does prompt you on your total time and splits though your headphones though - not on screen

Back to club training tonight after a few weeks - it’s not going to be pretty . Double park run New Year’s Day was great - the second was more cross country hills than my usual flat road routes . That’s my excuse anyway :)
    Happy new year runners !

I use an iPhone running Strava and a Fitbit Charge 2 to collect heart rate data. Does anyone know if the HR data can/will transfer to Strava.... mine doesn’t ☹️

did a 20 min treadmill session as my main activity in the gym today feel some fitness coming back.
    5 min 11kmh 5 min 12kmh 5 min 13kmh 5 min 14kmh.
felt ok might try a 30 min variant next week starting at 10 and trying to end on 5 mins at 15.

I used to enjoy short (up to 3 mile) fast runs as i'm not really built for long distance but this was a long time ago, now I think about it - 9+years

Being in my 40's and packing 185/65 R16 around my waste I think its time to get some fitness going again for my own health so will put in a request later and use Strava as a good kick up the arse, as a beginner it will be short and build up runs, I guess I will need a fitbit style watch that links to my iPhone instead of lugging the phone with me even though I have a phone arm band contraption.. it all starts here!!

I'm back in my gym tomorrow after an extended Xmas break (although I did work over Xmas). Not looking forward to how busy it will be, give it a few weeks and it will be back to normal though. Will try to get a 5km warm up on the treadmill.........need to put this beer down I guess🤔

Ran Sunday night for the first time in 3 weeks - it's amazing how quickly fitness dwindles.

Feeling pretty tight in the quads this morning! And I've got a race coming up at the end of the month too; must knuckle down..

So, both Mrs P and myself are getting back in the zone, three runs this week and a 8 mile walk.

I always used the free Nike app in the past which I prefer to the free Strava one. Who upgraded to a pay account and is it really worth the couple of quid a month

My aim for the year is to be running 5k sub 20min. I’m at 25ish now so we’ll see.

I've previously had 'full' Strava for a trial period and got nothing out of it to justify paying for it.

I'd love to do some longer events but it the training for them that is the problem for me I just get injured if running long distance or more than 3 times a week.

hence run 2-3 times per week and 2-3 x gym cross training and circuits

    TZUK Running Club

So there are 39 runners in the tz club! I’ve checked.

Tonight, I get a PB running home from work and go onto Strava all cock-a-hoop about what I’ve done. Even show the wife!!!!

So what I hear you say....

Well here’s what.... I only got mullered on one of the legs by Tim L on Strava. 38 other runners in the country and one of you lot lives down my road! FFS

    (nice one Tim )

    Tim!...................... Me!
