Thread: New watch purchased during my holiday

New watch purchased during my holiday

Was in Japan for 2 over weeks and chanced upon this 20th anniversary LE Grand Seiko. It’s a lovely brown textured dial, golden seconds hand and logo, 42mm, 3 days PR, and of course we all know how well they’re made. It’s hard to capture this piece in photos. Anyway, just sharing my joy. Thanks for looking.

    Cheers

    James

Very nice. With no bezel it’s all dial - does it wear like a 42 or a little larger?

Very nice indeed. I like the 'peacock' style dial. Enjoy.

Nice pick up. The detail is just amazing on these limited edition watches. Saw one here in HK but unfortunately a tad too large for my wrists.

That's absolutely lovely, but do they do it in a smaller size? 38mm would be perfect (for me).

Very nice icing on the cake for your holiday. There is a lot of love on hear for GS

If you pop into W H Smith or other and pick up this months ( issue 88) copy of QP there is a long article on the GS and if not wrong your watch is on the cover

Gorgeous but it'd need to be 38-40mm for me.

Absolutely lovely looking watch and sincere congratulations to the OP!

Apologies for the unsolicited criticism and being a party pooper but, in the pictures at least, it does look a tad large for the wrist as, let's be honest, has been alluded to by almost every subsequent poster :)

Photographs taken on a mobile, that close up, of a watch that thick, never, ever give an accurate portrayal of the relationship between the watch and the wrist. The foreground will always be considerably over-emphasised.

This. Always zoom in slightly and hold phone further away to achieve a better perspective. I did a post about it somewhere.

Nothing 'unthoughtful' about my post at all, I'm perfectly aware that such photos can be distorting.

Well done on your unnecessary and infantile rewording, though.

James Porter in the Argyll Arcade, Glasgow had that very model in the window a couple of weeks ago.

    It's on their website:

OP and DerAmf - they're both beautiful watches.

Can't wait for my visit to Tokyo & Kyoto in March.
Will check out the Seiko boutique for a souvenir - better than another fridge magnet!
