I definitely prefer it. The dial feels less cluttered and it helps with the legibility of the sub-dials.

I like the 99.3 very much except for the nibbled numerals so at the recent Watchmakers Club event I ask Dirk if he could do one without & this is a mock-up
compared to the regular version
What do we think?

That’s perfect Andy.
I, like yourself like the 99.3 but have never really been to bothered by eating of the 2, 4, 8 and 10 numerals.
Not it sure on how much extra work would be needed to make the dial blank but 100% worth the effort.
I would even go a stage further and just leave the 6 and 12 on the dial.
I think 11 12 1 and the 5 6 7 look far flung from the dial's main action, lonely and forlorn.
I prefer the original or else no numbers ,the mock up looks a bit strange to me

It needs something in their place.
A bit like the stars on a Zenith dial.
Maybe just a blued dot or something?
Looks unbalanced without the nibbled numerals; for me at least, prefer it as was.
David
Me too, I prefer the original. What about hour markers instead of numerals?
+1 for the original.
And another for the original. The incomplete numbers have never bothered me on my 99.2

Umm, just batons for me I think - agree I don't like partial numerals
Original looks better to me also.

The original looks much better to me as the other seems a bit top/ bottom heavy with numbers.
Maybe just go for the 12 & 6 as previously mentioned.
Prefer the original really, the modified just looks odd with nothing in their place.
Original for me, but I actually like nibbled numerals anyway.

A vote for the original but quite like the other. Would just be a case of getting used to the dial layout.
Its a quiet Saturday night.... forgive me... its all wrong so far:
I moved the text down to fill the lower void, but its missing something....
EDIT: Someone mentioned blue....

I don't like the nibbled numbers but I like them missing even less
+1 for the original. In fact I like the nibbled numbers
Never liked the half numbers on that model, quite like your first take on it.
I’d like to see it with just 12-6

Fantastic Andy, buy it now! However you'll then have too many, PM me about the 99.1. Seriously, they both don't work. For me.

I think Dirk went with his final design for a reason. I'd go for the 99.1
How about just the 11, the 7, and the bottom bit of the 4?
I don't mind cut numbers and own a watch I love that has them. Having said that, if you must remove them you need to balance out the space.
No it looks a bit odd ,you can just tell something is missing

I may be in the minority here but I actually like nibbled indices. I’m currently wearing an IWC 3717 Spitfire Chronograph that has applied Arabic numerals dial with a nibble on the 10 and a missing 3, 6 and 9. I love the way it looks like the chronograph subdials have been overlayed over the dial. It’s that ‘form follows function’ approach that highlights the elapsed time measurement capability over the need for a complete dial layout. And given that familiarity with a clock/watch layout means that we tend to read the time based on the relative positions of the hour and minute hands, I don’t think that nibbled/missing indices reduce the readability of a watch.

Of all the options, it does look like the original is the best...
Despite the nibbled numbers, the original is still better than all the other options IMHO.
Just ask him to make the sub dials smaller
If not then I'd go with his original design.
I’m with quite a few people on here in that I’m not a fan of the nibbled numbers, but I’m even less keen on the modified options here.

I'm not that keen on the nibbled numbers but still prefer the original over the other mocked up versions
Anyone know the lead in time on a Dornbluth at the mo’ please??
Thanks.
I also talked to Dirk about the "nibbled" numbers whilst at the event. Oddly, we also compared the versions with printed numbers and applied numbers, and the nibbled "applieds" don't look (to me) nearly as bad.
I'd go with the original layout, but with applied numerals.
And, yes, Dirk told me that current delivery is March/April next year.
.
I have considered Dornbluth in the past and must say the 99.3 looks like an excellent evolution. I prefer it with the nibbled dial. Last time I enquired there didn't seem much of a bracelet option, has this changed does anyone know?
I have to say, still prefer the original nibbed numbers. If I had to choose, I think the dots work better than batons though.
