    Steinhart Return Problems

I’ve recently bought a GMT-OCEAN One 39 Blue-Red from Steinhart direct from their website.

Easy transaction and delivered no issues.

But I’ve decided it’s not for me. Not worn it just inspected it, so again in my view a straightforward case of returning following their instructions.

Now, having tried it using their Fedex account it has locked me out saying there has been too many payment attempts on their account.

As a result I can’t seem to be able to return it this way.

I’ve emailed their customer support several times asking for help and advice, including whether it is easier for them to arrange collection.

But so far after 3 days nothing, not a word, not even an acknowledgement.

I’m getting close to sending it back myself via UPS through works account. But obviously concerned that if I do, I might never see a refund.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with them and how was it resolved?

    Thanks in advance.

I had to return a couple of watches to Steinhart over the years, never had a problem returning them- Dealt with Petra and Judith both very helpful, might be worth trying to call the office direct rather than email +49 821-5433800.

Thanks, that’s my next course of action later today.

I’ve had the same with the “too many transactions” message. An email to Petra and she sorted it from her end

Surely the cost of return shipping must be borne by you? Its not like there is anything wrong with the item.

You needn't worry about your refund they are a well established and respected business...

Same here and I tried at various times over a number of days.

It's odd that they should first send you down a route that always fails?

It is sometimes, depends on the company.

Pretty sure UK law says the supplier must cough up return costs, but most don’t unless you kick up a fuss.

Not sure whether that’s the same under EU rules or I’m just completely wrong

TBH it’s only £14 with UPS so I’ll see what happens after I call them.

When I returned a Steinhart they scheduled a FedEx pick-up at my work. Very convenient.

That’s what I’m hoping they will do for me.

    Would make life far easier.

UK law states that return costs are borne by you, not the seller unless the goods are defective.

Shame it's not the black variant otherwise I would've saved you the trouble.

Knew I was talking b*******, it’s the cost of sending it to me they have to refund.

Either way not an issue for me, they offer a free return service via FedEx.

Need to get finger out and call them tomorrow!

Judging from your username you’re from my original home town......Ossett! I was born and bred there.

As for the Steinhart, an alternative to sending it back, with the hassle that involves, is to keep it and sell it yourself as new unworn. 39mm is a good size IMO, I’m surprised no-one’s PM’d you on here to buy it.

Paul, yep that be where I am.... No place like Ossett!

I have thought of putting it on eBay, but PayPal costs would probably result in a loss for me even if I listed on a £1 eBay fee day.

All my watches are over 40mm so when I got a 39mm I thought it wouldn’t be much different. But it feels and looks tiny, guess that’s just me.

.Might have another look at it before sending back though

I’ve lived in Normanton since 1996, I left Ossett in ‘79 but I’ve always lived in the Wakefield area.

As for the watch, I suggest you give it a chance! I wear a lot of vintage 34mm watches, but I also wear a Seamaster pro at around 41mm. Swapping from one extreme to another accentuates the difference, but after a day or so you get used to it. I can’t stand big thick chunky watches, regardless of current trends!

They’ve been in touch today and are happy to organise collection through Fedex.

Just need to go back them with details.

Thanks for the comments and appreciate all advice given.

So after all of this, I’ve taken your advice and cancelled the return.

Made the adjustments to the bracelet and got it on.

When put against my Speedy it appears tiny at 39mm.

But when on the wrist after an hour, you don’t realise it’s size and actually it’s not bad at all.

    Wife hates it though

Thats looking good, and as others have said 39mm is a sought after size - you won't lose too much if you decide to move it on.

I think you've made a wise move. Lovely piece. You'll grow to love it, I've little doubt. Comfy, cool design (thanks Rolex), well built, reliable.
