Personally, I can’t stand this style of strap, just looks scruffy to me. I prefer traditional styles, especially on a vintage watch. To my eyes it looks totally wrong, a nice added dark blue alligatrvwould look far nicer.
Well, you did ask!
Like Crocs?
Not for me, HAS to be period. When mine’s not on it’s 1170 bracelet, a big hole Tropic is the one.
"shoes''?

I’ve tried far too many strap styles on watches of similar size and style. For me it absolutely has to taper from 22mm to 16mm; these are a 38mm watch case with a 22mm lug width. The taper to 16mm helps to keep everything in proportion (and matches the bracelets for this model).
For me, an exotic skin is too formal for a non-formal chronograph. Plain calf or perforated of some description. Flat profile too.
Here’s what I’ve ended up with on my 176.007, when I’m not using the bracelet. Not to everyone’s taste I’m sure!

Wouldn’t say I dislike it ,but I’d of preferred a lighter colour I think.
Sorry op I do like the brown one .

OP's choice wouldn't be mine, but the tan on blue looks incredible!
I have to say I wasn't aware of the 176.007 before and it's gorgeous!

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
It is a sporty watch, but (imho) you have either got to really nail the colour/shade/texture, or go bold and get a contrast.
OP - your choice may have worked better if the blue dial were a matt finish.....
Sorry, not the response you were hoping for I am sure. Nice watch btw!
