    Solid yellow/rose gold watch?

    Dear all,

Recently I feel that I am 'in need' of a solid yellow or rose gold watch, either with or without a golden bracelet. It seems that I kind of like the rolex 19018, the more peculiar day date, any opinions/thoughts on that, anyone with a wristshot with this watch on?

Any other solid gold alternatives that would worth considering? I am mainly into a second hand options of up to 8.000-10.000 gbp.

All opinions are welcome and highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

There was a gorgeous RG PAM on SC a week or so ago, and amazing value at its price.

Thanks for the info, I think I saw it but was way too large for me. Due to my small wrist anything above 42mm looks like a flying saucer on my wrist :)

Day date on bracelet for your budget shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

At that price, I would have a day-date 100%. You need to go for the proper car salesman / dictator spec with the gold dial and president bracelet.
I have an old 1803 and absolutely love it.

Just be aware of crappy bracelets as they aren't the best for longevity. Also make sure that anything you buy has all the links because they're bloody expensive.

With slim wrists a 36mm DD will work out really well. You will have plenty of choice with that budget so take your time and enjoy the hunt.

    Solid yellow/rose gold watch?

These are my favourite YG RG & PG in my collection,

The YG sub , possibly my favourite all time watch.

RG on leather sky-dweller quite a sturdy beast.

Paneria 8 day some say rose some say pink gold but once you wind it up you just have to wear it for 8 days

Mind you after 4 days you can admire the back.

Whatever you decide you won’t be disappointed.

Is the sub not white gold?

It’s YG I don’t see the point of white never have never will.

In-between Stainless Steel and Rose Gold.

    This one’s under bright lighting

They do change colour in different lighting on photos but in the flesh they pop, some say they are garish and over the top but I love mine.

You can't go wrong with a Day-Date. I have an 1803 with the champagne dial. Although common there's a good reason they were so popular.

However, if I was doing it again I'd consider something like this Rose gold Buckley dial version.

These are all great, especially the solid gold sub, however is beyond my budget and I wouldn't want to stretch it that much as I also need to refurbish the bathroom soon.

Anyone with the 19018 though? This is the oysterquartz day date. I would love to see how this looks like on a wrist.

One observation I would make about the 19018 is that it they don't go so well with a strap as the regular Day-Date.

I believe the oysterquartz with a leather strap looks awful indeed, I reckon in the case of strap the particular model is a no go. Generally, in the case or Rolex DD I believe the bracelet is a must regardless whether is a quartz or an older/newer automatic.

this is a good example I have found online:

I’ve tried a fair few 1803s and bracelets are definitely something to look out for; they aren’t as robust as their steel equivalents, obviously.

I wonder whether it might be better to buy the watch head-only or in a strap, and buy a new bracelet from Rolex. Does anyone know how many thousand it would cost?

Yellow gold on a bracelet, there is only one choice the Rolex 36DD.

I know, I know the obvious choice, but it is so for a reason.

Then again I'd say that as my mid-grail is the white gold version (don't do yellow), then onto what I really really want

I had a lovely late 60's Airking on a 14k (I think) gold bracelet, sadly lost in a house burglary. A black dial and unfussy lines made it the perfect for me dress/posh watch. I paid just over a thousand pounds for it. I never replaced it and often wish I had and now of course finances will not allow without me trading in other watches I like.

Really like that Panerai in rose/pink gold... that would be my way forward. try one on if you havent - Ihave small wrists but the Pan's wear well.

This isn't going to be easy choice as there's a few to consider. If it was my money I would go for a gold day date on a bracelet and buy a nice brown croco strap for a change of look every now and then.

Not into gold watches at all , but I saw a new rose gold gmt the other week and it really hit the spot.

Not this year for various reasons but maybe I’ll have some serious thinking to do next year.

Start saving now and you can afford one when you get to my age

I would throw the Rolex 116138 into the conversation. I hadn't heard of one until I bought one (Gold face variant) and have really taken to it especially on the brown Croc strap. I'm no good with pics but they have a relatively understated look for a gold rolex. Best of luck in deciding.

No no no, this is not my style, the watch, as an allow me to say unnecessary, most of times luxury good, should cost of a specific fraction of my annual income. I won't get in the loop of saving or financing, I ll buy what I can now to enjoy it like there is no tomorrow. When I ll reach your age and become able to make a lot more than what I do now I ll go buy the Patek, or even a better one (hopefully), with the same ease as I have now buying what I currently buy.

This is not bad at all, I saw that at 'Est' pawn shop at Newcastle city centre a while ago but it quickly disappeared.. considering from your profile that you are local was it you who bought it?? haha is the world that very tiny?

Recently I have also been looking at adding a PM piece and was considering an older Rolex DD or one from the Omega range.
But looking at the model that you have quoted, may well have clinched it.

I love the jlc master geographic (even in steel), I was thinking about this and it's previous version that comes in a solid gold bracelet.

Great choice. The advantage of the gold one vs. steel is that the hands are more legible against the white dial.

    H Moser?

The Endeavour small seconds is a thing of beauty and could be picked up pre-owned within budget I'd have thought?

EDIT: Watchfinder currently have this one with the black dial:

    I take the opposite view.

Rolex gold bracelets attract attention and just scream ROLEX - LOOK AT ME.

PP watches are nearly always on a strap and for a good reason - discretion.

I have been looking at the Rolex 116138 and came upon this piece.
    https://www.ukspecialistwatches.co.u...e-dial-116138/

Price looked okay, but when I enlarged the photos, it appears imo, that it has been over polished.
Look at the photos showing the bezel, should the grooves be sharp rather than rounded?
