Any one own one of these. I was chatting to a chap that owns one and he loves it. I love the look and they are different to the normal German stuff

    Alfa Guilia Quadrifoglio

Lovely cars. Had several Alfas back in the seventies / eighties. I could be tempted again if only they could sort their dealer network out.

I really really want one of these (had a 155 & 156 in the past) but I'd never get brand new. Alfas depreciate like a rock falling off a cliff so I'd be looking at 2-3 years old minimum. By then any issues with them should also be apparent.

Was very close to ordering one based on the rave reviews (and the below porn!) declaring it class leader outgunning the German usual suspects, but then started to spot quite a few reports of the infamous electrical gremlins popping up (albeit minor), so end of the day head ruled heart and decided to pass.

Looking at auto trader it seems to hold its price as well as a M3. They come with a 5 year warranty and 3 years servicing to help with any concerns over reliability

That video of the Nurburgring looks impressive, thanks

All this stuff about Alfa un-reliability is old hat. They're no different to any other make now. As I travel around I see more Mercs and BM's on recovery than anything else.

Next door neighbours just got one, a couple of weeks ago. Looks great in grey and I love the carbon fibre active-aero bits. The engine is to die for as well. No bad reports from him but it's still the honeymoon period so.... Not sure if he made the right decision based upon running costs though ;-) The reviews all seem to say 23mpg (and, like me, he does over 16K a year commuting), expensive road tax, also reports of typically 17K miles out of a set of tyres and 2K for a new set!

Good grief! I was having heart palpitations simply watching.

Got to admire drivers like that... the ability to keep the concentration going and, if something twitchy happens, to instantly forget it and move on. I've done some circuit driving and if I get a ragged episode then I can't stop thinking about it for the rest of the lap i.e. NOT concentrating on the present so speed drops.

The fronts are around £230 each so could be worse

Sound great, look great and from reviews seem to drive great. My concerns would be reliability as I am not up to speed with current Alfa quality and risiduals.

    They do sound good
Saw one Wednesday on a test drive I reckon at our local dealer
The red looks great. Not much discount available on drive the deal
It’s a tough choice for people after one. Or go for a c63 amg ?

A fiend bought one to replace his RS4, which he found a bit dull and not engaging enough. He's very happy with the Alfa.

    Alfa Guilia Quadrifoglio

A friend got one a couple of months ago and can’t stop talking about. He absolutely loves it.

His last three cars were an M5, a Nissan GT-R and just before the Alfa, another M5.

He has had it mapped and upgraded the exhaust as well as a variety of after market carbon bits.

He says the Alfa is the best and most engaging. He can’t stop taking it out for drives.

I agree with this as I’ve posted before, a friend of mine worked for a well known breakdown recovery service and had and there UK figures showed Mercedes to be the 2nd highest manufacturer they attended at the roadside; Renault were first.

The best performing manufacturer were Hyundai. I’m currently switched back to BMW (my sixth over the years) and regretting I did it, I’m a badge snod but I’ll keep it for a year and go back to Japanese, Lexus or Toyota much more refined and reliable in my experience.

I also owned a couple of Alfa’s over the years and apart from bulbs blowing I’ve never had a problem.

Good car but a VERY patchy dealer network (some are inept) and UK representation that comes over as clueless.

I've owned two new Alfas and I WAS a real fan - a 156 that was brilliant and a 159 that I was glad to see the back of at 15 months old in spite of it losing 50% of its value in that time. Then there was the long lapse before the 159 replacement came along .............. during which time I lost interest. Unfortunately for Alfa I have no interest in rolling the dice a third time.

I think breakdown figures should be proportioned according to the number of vehicles produced to be meaningful. For example, 2018 to the end of October >>>>>

    Alfa Romeo 3,654

    Audi 130,588

    BMW 147,627

    Mercedes Benz 149,482

It would indeed be a shock if your friend attended as many Alfa breakdowns as Mercedes Benz given that on this years registrations alone they are only 2.5% of the MB registrations!

Agreed... the local Alfa dealer is also Fiat and they are appalling! After owning two Fiats from them and being satisfied by the cars I got rid of my last Fiat after only a year because of the dealer. Terrible customer service and ridiculous servicing charges (more than VW!). I went to VAG which was a big improvement. CAR magazine have said much the same.... Finally, after a long absence, Alfa has some brilliant cars... just hope the dealer network doesn't cock it up.

I've had two Alfa's, a Spider and a 159. Both great cars and never missed a beat when I owned them. Many Alfa problems emanate from the electrics and they are Bosch.
