Tales from the workshop; The return of an old friend! XK140 content

This morning in the workshop: a BRG Jaguar XK140! Well-known to at least one mechanic in the shop. More than 20 yrs ago, this was the first Jaguar he completely restored. The car is still looking very, very good. Even after 80k kms. Only things altered: different seats (more sporty but period correct) and an alloy radiator that was installed 15 yrs ago.

Reason for the visit to the workshop? Just the usual things: just a complete service. Changing all fluids, sparkplugs, fuel filters etc. The car has lubrication points that need attention as well. The guy who built the car the first time took it for a spin along the country lanes. He returned with a grin from ear to ear. Still stoked by the work he'd done so long ago. The engine sounds healthy, oil pressure is still good.

There's no reason to worry about the next 20 yrs!

Nice one.......shame the steering wheel’s on the wrong side

If a car’s restored thoroughly, with attention to detail, it’ll last a long time. Rustproofing is essential and needs doing carefully by someone who understands the structure of the car.

If a cars been sorted out properly, driving in the wet won’t harm it......provided there’s no salt around!

I'd be taking that for one or two shake-down/test drives - glorious!
