Brasher Walking boots - heads up

Milletts are banging out the Brasher Country Master Walking boots at an almost ridiculous price... I've just picked up a pair.

    https://www.millets.co.uk/footwear/2...oot-brown.html

Lots of other bargains in their Black Friday event, too.

    `Brasher`?

Are they some kind of Altberg homage?

    Hello

No, think they might have been around before Altberg but stand to be corrected. A very highly thought of walking boot.

Nice one thanks, just bought a couple of pairs for me and the GF. We’ve had our current Brashers for the last 15 years.

I believe you are correct 1983 as opposed to 1989

both offer great quality boots for a reasonable price

Bwahahaha - I remember those days. I've got (a little) more willpower now... and I rarely venture into the SC.

Wore mine to work this morning and they're as comfy as slippers already

If you want to wear thick socks then it's probably a good idea.
I am a size 9 and bought size 9 boots but I doubt that I could get thick woolly hiking socks on. Being leather they will give as they break in, though.

The size recommendation thingy on the Brasher website suggests that you should order your regular size.

Just went into Blacks who are associated with Millets and picked up a pair of these which they price matched at £75.
Very comfortable and true to the advertised size

Indeed. You can actually get them delivered to a Blacks store for £1 on click and collect and leave them there for a refund if they aren't what you want. So it's sensible for Blacks to just price match.

I went through topcashback which i thought said about 4%. Just had an email that its tracked to the amount of £15 so must of been 10%. Nice little bonus if it pays.

Ordered mine via Quidco, who are also paying 4%, and it tracked at £3.
Fortunately the boots are a mega bargain, and this more than covers my £1 delivery.

I think Blacks and Millets are both owned by the same company?

  22. #22
It's a good deal, but the Supalite II are exceptional boots for the price and using quidco etc. are possibly a better deal for some.
It's just a matter of time...

  23. #23
Also on amazon for the same price with free postage, sold by millets

£108 vs £75 though so fair price difference

Yes, absolutely. But GTX and just about the best lightweight walking boots I've tried - the pittards leather comes up well and wipes clean from muddy walks- but the other boots are a very good price.

Unfortunately I didn't like the fit of the Berghaus. However as an alternative I got a pair of Scapa Delta GTX from GoOutdoors. The rrp is £198. However Snow & Rock have them on offer at £120 so with GoOutdoors price match with the extra 10% they came in at £108. If you don't already have their discount card this will cost a fiver but still a good deal I thought for some decent quality boots

Ours have arrived too, I’m well happy

Brasher began in 1994 but were swallowed up in a buy out by Berghaus (Pentland Group) in 2014. Berghaus the decided to drop the Brasher name and try to sell the same boots, but with the Berghaus name, this has not proved to be a very popular move

Berghaus also have a stake in Blacks following them going into administration in 2012 and owing both Berghaus and The North Face so much money, that the
only way to save the chain was to give both of those companies shares in the business. Other suppliers were not so lucky...

Blacks/Millets are the same company and overall now owned by JD Sports in the buy out following the 2012 administration. JD also own Go Outdoors. They are buying lots of UK outdoor companies, I
    wonder where it will end?

However, all that being said, this looks like a great deal, well spotted OP

That's the crux. If they don't fit they're not a bargain. I found them not be wide enough for my right foot. Hopefully you can get sorted

I learnt a long time ago that buying boots online without trying that exact make on first is a bit like going into a bar blindfolded wearing a t shirt that says shag me
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Whereas easy internet returns takes away all that pain and stops you looking like a knob and getting the pi$S ripped out of you in said bar I guess ?

Not sure which bars you may visit in sunny Norfolk, of course.....

Ive ordered the next size up as my local has no nines. Its hard to say if these are too tight or not or they just need breaking in thats why ill wait for the nines to come before i send these back. Great boot though and feel quality.
