Any of these take your fancy? https://www.hirschstraps.com/collect...m-watch-straps
Evening all,
I have an incoming with 17mm lugs, which I want a light brown strap for.
I've checked my usual sources, plus Google, ebay, etsy etc but struggling to find anything I like. So:
- has anybody tried 18mm straps squeezed into 17mm lugs? I'm thinking a fairly soft and thin strap, so wondering if it'll pinch in OK.
- any leads on hoards of 17mm straps?
Thanks

Thanks ctafield,
Unfortunately not, I'm looking for a very light brown (taupe?) to dress a watch down.
The nearest Hirsch do is more expensive than the watch in question at £149! https://www.hirschstraps.com/collect...ch-strap-beige

Most straps will shave down at the springbars easily.
Razor blade/scalpel and shave off 0.5mm from each side - easy enough.
Yeah I’ve had straps and watches fit nicely despite the sizes being different by 1mm. I’d recommend trying them before if possible because if the tolerance on both are going the wrong way (I.e the 19mm strap measures slightly bigger and the 18mm lugs are slightly smaller) it’ll be a bad fit.
Thanks, good point. I think I'll wait until I can measure it / try it with 18mm straps I have. I dabble in leathercraft so have thought I could easily trim a strap down before...didn't turn put well!

I'd forgotten Watchband Centre, thanks, a few runners there :) Sent from my SM-G973F using TZ-UK mobile app
I have a Longines with 19mm lug width. I squeezed a Rios1931 20mm pigskin strap in with no issues. The strap is soft and pliable and is no worse for wear after a couple of years being shoved into the smaller space. It looks fine and you would not know it wasn't made to fit that watch. They make this strap in 18mm size and in several (I think three) colors.
1mm won't be an issue. Most straps can be just pinched in without modification.

Thanks Saxon007 and Cyclone.
I was thinking pig or goatskin, so that's particularly great to hear.
Longines looks wonderful!
