    Brompton recall

I know it’s a few years old but I only found out about this today.

Only 1-5000 bikes likely affected but worth having done if you haven’t

off to check my serial number as the build dates are roughly around when I purchased mine.

We had ours replaced by Brompton Amsterdam while on a cycling tour last year, took about 20 minutes and they provided coffee while we waited.

Normally a bottom bracket wears out slowly. Even when they are completely kna...., you can still ride home. I should know my mtbs have had many a new BB.

I wonder what the issue is with their BB, crank locking?, thats hardly likely to have you off.

Took my Brompton into Evans Cycles and they did the modification while I waited. Took about 20 mins IIRC.

Just checked my serial number and its a tad earlier than the range given by Brompton so no action required here.

Must have had it longer than I thought.

Thanks for the heads up. Just checked, two older and one newer so nothing in that range, which might be 1403284144 to 1705150001 if I transcribed those numbers correctly.

I've only ever changed square taper BBs, the bearings in my external BBs have been bomb proof, Hope and Shimano.
