    Shipping from UK to Japan

    Hello
I am struggling to get any courier from UK which would ship / insure a watch from UK to Japan. I am a private individual.
The watch is not that pricey but above the £2.5K ... it is around £4,500.

Is there any shipping company / Insurance that would do the shipment and cover it in case of loss / theft / damage in UK to Japan?

    I found one - Ferrari - Which quoted £275.

I tried Fedex and their max on Jewellery is $1000 same with TNT.
Tried a couple of insurances and they said they only do commercial
I was looking at Parcel Pro but seems to be USA and not sure if they serve individuals?

    Thanks for your help.
    Kind regards
    Massi

IFS should be able to cover that shipment.

I shipped a watch (value £2000) to Japan in 2016. I used Mail Boxes Etc, who insured the watch for me and used UPS as the courier. The cost was approx £85. Give them a call for a quote.

So I got a quote from Mail Boxes. £280 for the shipment and £4,000 cover.
    Seems high?
    Or prices have just soared?

Hi Massi, I'm surprised it's that much. I dug out my MBE invoice to check the amount.Firstly, it was in 2015 (not 2016). Freight via UPS was £39.57. Insurance at 2.5% of the declared value of £2000 came to £50.00. So, £89.57 in total.

Based on the same 2.5% insurance rate and, say, £50 for freight I would have expected a quote in the region of £150. So, either a mistake was made or the prices have indeed soared.

Did you get the quote online or did you call your nearest MBE agent. Might be worhwhile to speaking to a couple of the nearest agents to check on the price you received.

I spoke to them on the phone and they sent me a quote via email. Good point though I will check another branch.

    New option Secursus

    Hello,
I found a watch insurance specialist. Secursus. It is based in France but covers worldwide. Anyone tried it?
    Kind regards
    Massimo
