A friend has asked for recommendations but her request is so broad I'm not sure where to start!
She's gonna get her husband a 40th birthday present - and wants to get him a watch.
He already owns a silver dial Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra.
The brief is as follows:
"Price would be around £1500. I don’t mind if it’s second hand, as long as it’s in good nick. Karl wants to give the watches to each of our boys, so I’d like it to be classy, but not necessarily a big brand name. But needs to look of equal quality/value, so one doesn’t feel hard done by haha!! I don’t think it matters on leather or metal for strap, but more dressy than sporty. Colour wise, Karl is quite flamboyant, so I don’t mind the colour( as long as it’s classy ish ha!)"

No doubt we will get 20 different suggestions from 20 different people making this exercise as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Best bet as said many times before, let him chose the watch, buy him a lunch in a decent pub and have raunchy you know what afterwards. Much better than most of the suggestions made so far.

You may need to think slightly obliquely on this: she wants watches that her "boys" (no age mentioned but they're presumably not adult at this point) will inherit or be given.
Unless (unlikely) her sons grow up and into WIS types from fairly early ages, they are almost certain to be far more brand oriented than function or legacy aware.This implies to me that they will probably be far more impressed with a "known" (I.e. high street recognised) brand name than a niche or vintage name like, for instance, Precista, Smiths or Sewills.
In my own experience of teen and under 25 (current) agers, the main brands they associate with watches are Tag (Heuer but they don't recognise Heuer as part of the name), Rolex and for some reason Hugo Boss.
Food for thought... I have no suggested solution.
How about a Ball Watch? Something like an Engineer.
New, a little over budget, but Secret Sales have some heavily discounted (51%). At this price residuals should be ok, but possibly less important if these are intended to be future gifts to your friends children.
