Evening everyone,
Just thought I would stop lurking and introduce myself.
I don't seem to be as much of a watch enthusiast as many here but I have always admired nice watches. Having a background in mechanical engineering these tiny machines ticking away is a source of wonder for me. Unfortunately I have yet to own a mechanical watch but it will happen.
My meagre "collection" extends to two much used and loved watches. My first is a Pulsar W671-4170 Spoon which I bought new when I was a student around 2000 (I had to stop drinking for a month to save up) I knew I had to have it when I first saw it and I still love how it looks (that red LED display still gets me).
My second is a quartz Tissot PRC 200 Sport which I obtained around 2010 and has been my daily wearer until it recently fell of my wrist (I never really got on with that Tissot strap ) and landed with enough force to dislodge a piece of the trim on the face which then became caught in the hands. I say "obtained" as I had clocked up enough air miles with an airline to use them to claim the watch. Which I thought was a bit of a result.
So not much of a collection and neither of them operational.
My taste in watches means I prefer simple and elegant over complex. I tend to find chronos too busy, I even have to think hard about whether or not a date window is too cluttered (I don't know where that stands on the watch related OCD spectrum).
My dream watch? It used to be an IWC Portofino (I lived in the Middle East for a year and would regularly peer through the windows of the watch shops in the malls and dream) but I think my tastes have changed a little. Right now it would be an original Smiths W10. On a slightly more achievable level I would be more than happy to wear one of Eddie's pieces on my wrist.

That is my favourite range of his, thinking hard of ways to stretch the budget to meet one of the latest (it'll be difficult to chose between the two). Hopefully there'll be some left by the time I get there.Cat7
The Smiths 29a is one of my favourite watches.
I will take some when I get the opportunity. My current expensive hobby is photography so it will give me the opportunity to indulge it. Found out from lurking on here that Seiko have a refurb facility here so I'll contact them to see if they are able to look at it (the last battery change did more harm than good and the LCD lost much of it's intensity and went off very quickly).Mr Curta

Oh dear..
I started this quest looking for a simple rugged watch that I can use outdoors and now I need:
At least one of Eddies watches (three at the last count)
A simple mechanical watch with a glass back
A Unisonic Buzzsaw
A Baltic Chrono (the only chrono I have seen that doesn't look too busy)
A slippery slope indeed.
That is good news Mick, I have seen one name cropping up every now and then (Oliver?) but it would be good to know of any more.There are some on here that could get your watches working again, that’s if you feel you want them to be working!

I think I've got the moral high ground on this one. The amount of time she spends on sites like Net-a-Porter and Matches Fashion means I won't feel guilty stopping by here every now and then.
