Following a nasty crash in FP1 at Assen...Dr Charte gives Lorenzo update:

JL should quit while he is still alive. He has lost the plot and trying too hard to recover it.

What an interesting grip for the Assen GP.
You could've said that two years ago when he was struggling with the Ducati, then he turned it around in pretty spectacular fashion and went on to earn a Repsol seat. Don't forget that this is the only guy to have beaten Marquez over the course of a full season. I'm not his biggest fan but he has talent by the bucketload and I have no doubt he'll get the Honda working in a way that suits him given time.

Well the end of the season is upon us, and it appears that Jorge is retiring from MOTO GP..
I’ve always admired his riding style, and can’t help wondering that had he stayed at Ducati, would he have had another championship in him??
He certainly wouldn’t have had such a disappointing season as this one..
He’s had some very nasty injuries in the past and always come back fighting, but I suppose enough is enough, the body can only take so much.
I feel it’s a shame he’s retiring, I used to love it when he held his head high and strutted around like a peacock because he knew he was the best in the world.
Now whom will replace him at Honda??? That’s the big question

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has advised Italian Grand Prix rider Andrea Iannone that he is provisionally suspended pursuant to Article 7.9.1 of the 2019 FIM Anti-doping Code (CAD). The decision to provisionally suspend Mr Andrea Iannone was mandatory following the receipt of a report from the WADA accredited laboratory in Kreischa b. Dresden (Germany) indicating an Adverse Analytical Finding of a non-specified substance under Section 1.1.a) Exogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) of the 2019 Prohibited List, in a urine sample collected from him at an in-competition test carried out by the FIM at the round of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship held in Sepang, Malaysia on 3 November 2019.
Mr Andrea Iannone has the right to request and attend the analysis of his B sample.
Mr Andrea Iannone is provisionally suspended with effect from 17 December 2019. He is therefore barred from participating in any motorcycling competition or activity until further notice. Under Article 7.9.3.2 CAD, Mr Iannone may request lifting of his provisional suspension.
Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the FIM Anti-Doping Code, the FIM is unable to provide any additional information at this time.
Oh dear, I guess the cosmetic surgery on his face wasn't enough and he's been trying to bulk up on roids. Silly boy.
Never liked him.. always felt he didn’t have enough respect for his rivals.
B test also positive so it's looking like he'll be sacked from Aprilia with Bradley Smith taking is his seat and Karel Abraham on test duties.
Iannone is appealing the decision blaming contaminated meat but the positive was for a steroid predominantly used for breast cancer treatment with no clear path into the food chain (or so I've read). Good luck with that one but at least he has his fragrance empire to fall back on.
It's still speculation but if true it'll be good to see Bradley back on the grid and also KA back in a job after his shameful treatment by Avintia.

Andrea Iannone has reportedly had his positive drugs test confirmed after a B sample showed traces of an anabolic steroid.
But Italian news reports say that the level of the drug in the Aprilia rider was so small that it could have been consumed in contaminated food.
Iannone has always denied doping.
“We will begin the appeals process as soon as the result is made official, and ensure that Iannone is reinstated at Aprilia,” his lawyer, Antonio De Rensis, told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The analysis should attest to the presence of metabolites equal to 1,150 nanogram per millilitre — a small quantity considering also that the rider had been in Asia for over a month,” said De Rensis.
He added that Iannone’s post-race dehydration would have increased the concentration of the drug in the sample.
“It is a fact that supports the thesis of food contamination, also because steroids are taken with long, not occasional cycles.”
