    Vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual advice

Wondering if someone can assist me in offering some details from the pictures below.

A friend has had this in his drawer for many years and has asked me if I can find out any info for him, but my Rolex knowledge is almost zero.

I was thinking it was either a 1002 or a 1005, but I can't seem to find any on line in 9ct gold.

Would late 50s early 60s be about right?

    Any help would be appreciated.

It started up on the first wind but the screwdowm crown takes less the a quarter of a turn to unlock/lock.

There were no other visible markings other than what are in the photos.

I'm assuming the handset is not original?

Is there no serial number between the lugs?

There are 1002's in 9ct gold out there

And why do you think the hands are wrong?

Cheers mate. I assumed they should either be baton lumed or Dauphine hands?

    Anyone have any further info?
    • Is it a 1002?
    • Approx year
    • Movement (I assume 1570)?
    • Do dial, hands and crown look to be OK?
    • Would it originally come on strap or band?

    Thanks.

You'll need somebody careful with a Rolex case back tool to get much of the info you seek. But I guess you probably already know that. Otherwise, it's a bit of a guessing game.
