Thanks for the heads up, I have it, and put now and again for a nostalgia blast. My kids think I'm mad.

A nice little Scottish comedy called 'City Lights' about a frustrated writer who worked in a bank. Everyone around mocked him for his lofty literary ambitions.

    Never repeated to my knowledge.

Starred the late lamented Gerard Kelly.

That’s definitely been repeated. Can’t remember which (free) channel but I saw it was on when channel hopping (or whatever the term is).

I think present day “production values” and budgets spoil some of the older programmes. Loved Auf Wiedersehen at the time but didn’t get much from watching in 2018.

Brilliant series and on Bluray, it is visually stunning too. The first half of the episodes are inspired original writing, the later episodes are much more convoluted and hardder to follow, perhaps you need some 60's 'medication' for it to click into place.

PacificChrono, you really should make a trip to the UK. Portmeirion is only 40mins down the road from us in North Wales, the whole area is a mixture of natural beauty, castles and history. Portmeirion would just be a bonus!

The Biederbecke Affair and its sequels, with James Bolam and Barbara Flynn - brilliant writing I seem to recall. And P'tang Yang, Kipperbang - brilliant, memorable performances.

That takes me back, Frank Marker! I enjoyed Prospects when it was shown in the 80s, watched it again recently, all the episodes are on Youtube. Sadly, Gary Olsen who played Pincey died in 2000, he was only 43.

Shaka Zulu had me totally hooked as a 13yo, I loved that series. I have never been game to watch it again in case it felt dated and spoilt the show I think of it as. The soundtrack is great though.

ITV 4 on weekday mornings is always showing classic 70s/80s shows. They currently have Kojak and Minder, and recently had all episodes of the professionals and the Sweeney, which did nothing for my productivity on the days I worked from home!

On the Buses is repeated often enough on the little satellite channels. It has dated terribly.

Just watching it again on Netflix, apart from the old actors Trevor Howard etc it’s aging really well and doesn’t feel that dated due to excellent camera work.

I loved Airwolf. I recorded the theme tune onto a cassette which I then left permanently loaded in the stereo of my battered old mini, with Play pressed.

Every time I turned the ignition on I got the Airwolf theme blasted from the tinny speaker.

Heaven. I later got into collecting watches which tells you all you need to know. Remarkably I am still married.

TV shows from the 70's and 80's that you wish were repeated...

I don’t think we’ve had ‘The Flashing Blade’.

I picture some forum members as characters from this show I realise, in a good way. It’s essentially the Bear Pit brought to life in all it’s farcical glory.

I loved the BBCs "Rock n Roll Years". Unfortunately made without copyright permission for the music so not available, nor likely to ever be, on DVD. Very little on You Tube.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers this fondly.

Many of the other series mentioned have had reboots
Knight rider, the prisoner, thundercats, hawaii 5-0, magnum pi, charlies angels (big and small screen), mission impossible and more have all had remakes with varying levels of success.
I have done my fair share of nostalgic tv watching and while some of it is watchable, most of it is 'of it's time' and is far better viewed through the rose tinted lenses of memory.

Yes! Loved that, I was perhaps only 10 or so at the time I think, I vividly remember a episode in which they went back to WW1 I think, scared the crap out of me for some reason I can’t remember.

    Dear John.

Brilliant series written by John Sullivan, sadly only lasted for two series because of the untimely death of Ralph Bates .

    The Banana Splits.

Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s we had the best kids tv programmes. Ever!

    Most already mentioned, plus:

    The Red Hand Gang.

Plus, there's another show I used to watch when I lived in Switzerland in the late 80s/early 90s about an oriental superhero (not Money, more sci-fi), but I can never remember enough about it to get to a name ...

I met someone who lived there for awhile. Amazing. She was married to an artist and it was in the 1960's I think when it was thought it might be some kind of artists retreat.
