I remember that one. It was great. It had a gritty realistic edge to it, more like a film than tv.

I loved Danger Mouse back in the day. That did return but the new cast weren't a patch on the originals. That I suppose is always the risk when bringing things back.

Moonlighting was another must-watch - I cant remember it well enough now to know if it deserves a return.

Careful what you admit to on a public forum. Possession of that’s probably regarded as a hate crime these days!

    👍

I think I once saw that the decision, at the time colour TV was emerging, to film the series in black and white was regarded as a huge mistake. Probably prevented more repeats.

You have to have some balls to use one of those!

Are they any different from the 1960s version though? Don’t you get about 2 minutes “flying” time?

The Six Million Dollar Man was pretty good, there have been rumours of a mega-budget reboot movie (the series was based on the book Cyborg) for years.

    Hawaii Five-0 was always cool.

Chips was quite good as I recall.

I liked The Fall Guy, and Buck Rogers, and Battlestar Galactica (the rebooted series was some of the finest television ever made in my opinion).

    Manimal and StreetHawk stank though.

This thread is brilliant. It’s like reliving my childhood and there are some series I’d forgotten all about.

I’m reticent about going back and rewatching some of my favourite shows though. I was a big fan of Airwolf. A TV channel recently repeated all Airwolf episodes which I recorded. It was awful!

I recently found myself on Amazon about to buy an Equalizer box set, but I made myself stop. Sometimes, memories are better than the real thing.

I recall her in "The Protectors" as the Contessa Caroline di Contini, alongside Robert Vaughan as Harry Rule, and of course it's pure 1970s theme tune courtesy of Tony Christie . . .

Secret Army has run at least twice in recent years on one of the freeview channels - maybe UK TV Drama?

    Also the follow-up / spin-off show Kessler.

Quite a few that I like from that era, even though I wasn't born then, starting with my all time favorite series that is a mainstay and one I've watched at least 5 times back to back, with some episodes probably more than a dozen times, M*A*S*H. I remember watching the first episode on TV, as we just got cable (grew up behind the Iron Curtain), must've been '92-'93, probably around 10 years old and shouldn't have stayed up watching it as it used to play at 10PM, something about it made me really mesmerized and hooked, even though obviously at that age many jokes flew right past me. Sometimes I think if THAT particular episode didn't play ("Tuttle", one of the best of the show imho), maybe I would have never developed what is akin to an obsession over it (or at least my wife thinks so, and she's obviously right ).

A somewhat distant second series I used to enjoy watching a lot, not so much nowadays, was Colombo - I was really determined to become a clever detective someday

    The Avengers, specifically Emma Peel.
The stories were iffy, the acting hammy,
but for me as a 10 year old, there was something mesmerising....

Nice gritty crime series as I remember it.

Never seen it repeated in recent years.

I remember it very well, especially the theme music by Dave Greenslade. I was living in Brum at the time and the rumour was that the series was based on well-known local 'businessman' Eddie Fewtrell.

Survivors originally from 1975, I think - The original post apocalyptic TV drama? Gripping stuff!

The Monocled Mutineer from 1986 - Quirky and brilliant!

Neither repeated much since originally broadcast, but both left a lasting impression on me... Well worth a watch if you can find them.

Yes me too and Wilma and Princess Ardala from Buck Rogers. Imagine having both of those two fighting over you . Don’t know why Buck didn’t take full advantage of that situation. I’ll still happily sit through season one of that.

    Makepeace and Purdey too .

As a kid in the 70s I think the boys had it pretty good for TV fodder. Even sally james from Tizwas .

Blake’s 7 is still surprisingly good script and performance wise after all these years. I was approached three times over the last 20 years to do the vfx for a reboot. Each time they didn’t realise I’d been approached before. Nothing came of it though. Every few years I hear someone talking about it again. I do think it could make a good series and I think the been should still do it.

    Peaky Blinders in space.

As a kid I quite liked The Fantastic Journey , Space 1999 too is still quite watchable and strangely pervy sometimes.

Oh my giddy aunt. I may have to go and have a good hard think about that picture. I'll admit to never seeing the show but did she regularly appear it such (vital to the storyline) outfits?
