    Headphone recommendations

Hi all - I’m sure there must be a thread on here somewhere about these but it alludes me.

My wife has asked for some blue tooth ones for Christmas and I don’t have a clue! Budget of around £200 ideally. Any ideas please?

You have come to the right place. Although Black Friday week would likely have saved you a bob.

Firstly decide what type - over ear, on ear, buds etc. Then the world is your oyster.

Then theres the quality of noise cancelling and if that's important.

    For £200 you'll have a good choice.

I've bought the kids and I some Sonoflow jobbies for about £65 a set and seem fine to me.

Folk on here will guide you across the big brand Bose/Sony/Beats selections!

I've worn a pair of Powerbeats pro almost every day for 2 years (work and play) and they've been brilliant...standard buds don't stay in my wonky lugholes and these are excellent..highly recommended..decent discount on Amazon today too...

Really depends what the OP's wife is using them for.

From my point of view I have had the old Powerbeats wired for some time and recently just bought these linked here. Really for me - the only ones that stay in during any sort of activity!

    Pricey though!

My over ear Sony WH-1000XM3 are superb, I wouldn't be without them. The XM4s were an incremental improvement and are still available, the XM5s are quite different and I have no experience.

I ear I have the Sony WF-C500 and they are very good though sound clearly nowhere near as good as the over ears.

I’ve gone from a pair of Sony XM3’s to Bowers and Wilkins PX7 S2’s, which if you keep a look out can be had for £200 in a sale. The build quality is far above the Sony’s they replaced and the sound is just lovely.

You haven’t mentioned where and when you would wear them.

For casual listening, even whilst out walking, jogging or commuting, you can’t beat the old favourite Koss ksc75’s

Plug them straight in to your mp3 player, or via a dongle to your phone if you have no headphone jack.

Can be bought ridiculously cheap at times, get rid of the ear clips and replace with an 80’s style headband.

I have been using them for years, and have only replaced due to more than reasonable wear and tear.

Superb sounds plus a bit of 80’s retro, what’s not to like?

Ive got these and they are superb.
£50 off as well which takes them under your budget.

I would also consider if your wife is travelling / commuting and if it would be difficult to carry headphones vs earbuds. If wearing for considerably longer periods, then headphones for comfort.

Bose noise cancelling are very good and very comfortable. Look at Bose QC45 or Bose earbuds 2.
