I received this ages ago....and finally plucked up the courage to do it.. it was, how can I say this...bloody difficult! :)
Upon removing the movement I was put off even more...
Carrying on I used pegwood sharpened once sometimes twice for each plot. And I got to this, an H558 dial without lume. Might be quite a rare sight? It took me about 3 hours...
And once I'd finished it looked like this.
And I was happy enough with the work done. It doesn't glow like a Christmas tree. I wish I knew what sort of binder Seiko uses to saturate it so heavily with powder...but anyway I'm happy and the owner is, too.
Not too bad?
Really tricky making sure the lume is flat as much as possible on the plots as the hour hand doesn't have much room to manoeuvre over the 12 o clock plot.
Great job! Looks fantastic.

Nice work
Lovely, had mine for 16yrs (was my dads before from new in 85). Still get a blast of lume for 5seconds from a torch. Needs a service mind you! Cracking watch. GPTempDownload.jpg

I'm not a fan of Arnie's but that's a job well done.
The Bullhead looks superb too.
That's a really good job right there.
So neat and the end result is totally in character with the watch.
I love seeing something done so well l find myself smiling.
Bodo aka Guy is the man !

Great work, I tried luming a set of hands once and made such a mess, cleaned them up and left the lume off.
Lesson learnt, get someone who knows what they're doing to do it.
