How to value a MacBook Pro secondhand

I have been offered a secondhand MacBook Pro - it is described as Apple MBP/DCi7/3.0g/8GB/512/13.3"

Which I believe is a pretty good spec. This is coming from a friend who used it for business but is office based and looks after her stuff.

It will be 3 yrs old on 1st Nov.

Any Mac experts care to offer an opinion on what I should offer for it?

    Thanks Mark

From what I saw there are any number on Gumtree, with completely unknown provenance. I think you have to value both the spec and the provenance.

If the actual machine has the ports you want and is sound in battery etc, then the provenance is extremely valuable.

Just to add I looked for one for about three years. I ended up buying one from SC as the spec was superb and the provenance very strong. I'm delighted with it.

I know my friend paid$1499 plus $79 for Magsafe 2 power thingy.

$1578 equates to GBP 1207 in todays money so if I offer GBP 600 does that seem reasonable?

I've got a 1 year old Macbook Pro in top spec sitting on my desk...used for 10 mins max..I just put it on charge every 2 months. Still using my trusty 8 year old Samsung laptop...just couldn't get used to the operating system...Good old Windows...

Why not install Windows on it? Or get rid?
