Why does it have to be 1000m ? Couldn't it be 1000 feet, and hence the slimmer watch that people actually seem to want ?

The three Everests will come before this, assuming the bracelet is suitable.

Agree that a thinner, 1000 ft waterproof version would be awesome. And please consider a blue dial with orange bezel!

At least for me, its classic 1960's to later sometimes wildly unconventional 70's aesthetics are not what made the original Jenny Caribbeans the ultimate dive watch design, it was, specifically, the beautifully simple, economically practical, comprehensively useable in all situations and conditions, and absolutely overall brilliant and bullet-proof real world addressing technological case design of a superlative and peerless nature surpassing even that of the deceptively inexpensive but incredibly well designed Vostok Amphibians developed for the resourceful Russian military that made the original Caribbean specification case divers, if not receiving of, then certainly at least fully deserving of the highest level of earned horological respect as far as use-it-for-anything divers watches go even beyond that accorded the genuinely magnificent original size Rolex SeaDwellers.

As regards making this as currently proposed a 2-piece case design homage to the original front-loading monocoque, or monobloc, one-piece case design Jenny Caribbeans, I believe I'm technically correct in respectfully saying that an original design monobloc case Caribbean 1000 could, with no loss of strength or torsion resistance, be made thinner in profile than could an equivalent 1000m WR rated 2-piece case Caribbean homage.

As regards cost effectiveness, if Citizen can make such relatively inexpensive (not to mention quite relatively thin) use of the front loading one-piece monocoque case design for its earlier to more recent 300m WR rated "Ray Mears" series heavy-duty field watches, and also for its older and long popular but now unfortunately discontinued ref. BN0000-04H 300m Professional Eco-Drive Divers Watches (one of which just retired as my main beater and grab-n-go for 7 or 8 years, or so, and this full on 300m WR rated divers watch is incredibly thin and compact, as well as, given the high quality and specs of it, I think very cheaply bought at only about 165 USD, or so, brand new back in 2011), then I would have to think, or at least hope, that a well done Timefactors version of a true monobloc case Jenny Caribbean design diver could also be made and sold at both a good profit for TF and a competitive price for consumers.

Having made all the above comments, though, I also have to add that the aesthetics of this one are really getting to a nice state --- I think it's starting to look great and I'm glad the "pointy" flayed legs and arms look of the lugs some of the originals had is not included.

Looks like Ollech and Wajs are releasing their own homage of the Caribbean soon. Just saw a short teaser on their instagram.

    Caribbean

Seen the O&W teasers and your pic and its missing something for me - that and the almost 50mm lug to lug on the sub 40mm case (seems to be a miss for both the large and small wristed) and the narrow bezel insert and almost-as-wide brushed steel bezel edge ….hmmm not for me. By contrast loving the Smiths Caribbean mock ups of what has always been an attractive and classy dial. Case size and lug to lug seems perfect and loving the sloping lugs - think that fits a wrist better than flat sticky-out ones. No problems with height for me as the sloping lugs should bring the case nicely down to the wrist and an all round win if its gets produced - mark me down for a black and orange one (always a sucker for funky coloured bezel inserts!) Oh hell might need the silver one too! (If due soon better cancel the Huldra order!)

My eyes can't read that but the originals said 3300fts on the dial

Ah ok, so that would be (3300fts) on the dial and 3300 feets on the case back.

I know that this has been discussed before, but I’d still like an option to swap bezel inserts. If the orange and yellow versions came with an extra insert (black insert for orange and blue insert for the yellow), then this would reduce the set to 4 and there wouldn’t be a problem second guessing the number of inserts to order. Some premium I’m sure would be happily paid for this. I also understand that swapping inserts might not be a simple risk free step, so it may not be practical.

'F' for me but I really like the idea of additional bezels at the point of purchase (although whether my cack hands would be able to change them safely is debatable)

Looking good! Can't pick a favourite at the moment.

Looks like the specs have changed from 30ATM to 100ATM and the movement to a 9015. I'm sure its all there in the thread somewhere...

Now, back to finding a favourite...

I have a feeling it will be a non-starter for me on thickness grounds. Still don't see why it needs to be 1000m when 1000 feet would be fine for 99.9% of people ...

I think the orange dial version would work better with a black bezel.

Reading back, looks like it'll be about 14mm thick. So possibly a nonatarter for me as well unless the thickness is cleverly hidden unlike with the vanguard. 1000m certainly seems odd if it can't even be used as a dive watch due to the 12 hour bezel. At 12mm and a 40mm case this watch would be a no brainer, it looks absolutely fantastic.

B, D or E, all classic Caribbean colours. The only question with the bright colours is whether they will have the texturing that the original coloured dials had. They almost looked like coloured beads set in clear resin.
I am guessing not. Regardless, the brighter colours look ace.

I like this design, especially the size and proportions (hands, date position, etc.) - much better than the original Jenny.
I just wonder about indexes on bezel insert and basically their durability.

Because it's a homage to a vintage watch that had 1000m water resistance. We can do at least as well today, so it would be silly (something of a cop out even) not to do it.

As for the height, 14.5mm isn't too much in my opinion. I have a 16mm Steinhart Proteus (similar case to the Apollon or Triton) and that's entirely wearable -- for me. But each to their own. Not every watch is right for every wearer.

Exactly my thoughts. I've got a Certina Super ph1000m which is 17.5mm thick. I'm happy wearing that.

I would have thought Eddie would sell far more of them if it was 12mm tall, than if was 14.5+ mm ... I may be wrong, but it didn't look like sales of the equally chunky Vanguard were exactly pulling up trees ... whereas the 36mm watches at c11mm height are flying out the door.

I guess the fans of tall watches will be happy anyway !
