Any chance of a closer up or higher resolution image of the dial itself - is it linen?
Evening all.
I have this thing on its way from a deceased relatives attic. It’s definitely not hard to imagine he’d have had a genuine day-date but something tells me this is a fake. Anyone have any thoughts? Poor pic is Althea only one I have for now.

Very hard to tell from that picture, need a better one.

Well it should be precious metal, so...
It's just a matter of time...
Crap pic is all I have at the moment, I don’t know much about these but thinking the lugs look a tad suspect, also looks 2 tone and can’t find similar pics anywhere online?
Should get my hands on it in a couple of days.

Bad news I am afraid.

Thought so, cheers!

Case shape looks wrong. It should have some extra metal between the bezel and the lugs.
It's a fake, sorry.
Bezel looks rough too!!!

Have Rolex ever produced a bimetal version of the day/date?.........I don`t think so.
Definitely looks fakey fakey to me. Lots of fakes sold overseas used to be based on models that never existed and I think this is one of them.
It just might be worth sorting out for the sentimental value, that's up to the OP to decide.

Thanks everyone, I think it’s fair to say it’s junk!

This watch is fake, but some of the comments may need "clarification."
Rolex did produce a tiny number of Day-Dates in steel, which are very desirable.
They also produced a number in three colour gold, such as the 18239 Tridor.

I wonder if the Day-Date movement and dial would fit inside a Datejust case? I'm guessing not.
